I finally got around to taking some pictures of my Hoover 541. It seems to be in great shape, although I haven't tested it out yet.

The vacuum cleaner.

Holy moly! THATS about as nice as a machine from that age can be! Major congrats. I wouldn't even attempt at doing a full restoration. It has just enough patina and shine to make it perfect!

THAT BAG!

that ORGINAL bag is stunning!!!!

and the orginal cord is to DIE for, the only thing i would do is oil the top berring through the hole in the motor cap. use either sewing machine oil, or 3in one. just a few good dropps and let it seep over night (theres a wick the runs through the armature that oils both berrings). and throw a Eureka F&G belt on her, and your good to go!

way nice find! treasure that, a 1920's machine in that condtion is impossible to find.....=)

I'm planning on making a video of the vac, so I have some questions. First, since the bag has a few small tears in it, I'm afraid that it won't be able to inflate fully. Would it be same to put some tape on temporarily just for the video? Also, the piece that attaches the bag to the handle is missing. What would make a good substitute?
