Hoover 427 and S4100 finds and restoration

I found these two lovely Hoover cylinders. Both run but need some serious work.

The 427 needs new paint motor rebuild and all its attachments

The S4100 need a its motor rebuild, the on off switch needs to be repaired and it needs a hose.

The s4100 was made at Hoovers Manufacturing facility in South Africa. Hoovers uprights were king but their cylinder models did not sell aswell as Electrolux models of the time

Right

Started working on the s4100.

Just as I was about to open it up I saw this bojack switch ,,,, Really ??? Dont you hate it when you fond a Rare vac on ly to discover someone had ruined it with a rubbish repair ?

All opened up to see what damage was done

Any one got any photos of how the swtch is supposed to operate. I can see a general idea but I am going to have to make something to get it to its original system.

Something tells me this was the first Hoover cylinder with a cord winder.

I seem to remember this from something I read. Note the How to fix label
