I know most 300's have the teal badge on top of the motor and the green band around the motor, with no badge on the chassis. This machine has no badge on the motor cap, a red band on the motor, and a badge on the chassis that is a little odd for Hoover. The serial #'s on 300's went from 3,000,001 to 3,274,788. This machine has a serial # of 3,272,663, so pretty late in the model run.

I'm not sure, the top of the motor does not have any holes where the old green badge would have been. The front plate has the "Reg U.S. Pat Off." under the Hoover name, and the "It Beats, as it sweeps, as it cleans" phrase. Any info is appreciated.

I have one too. It's original, and very late in the run. The cloth bag has exactly the same red badge on it that the nozzle housing does. I found mine 20 years ago at a flea market. At the time, I thought it was a factory rebuilt machine. They wanted a ridiculous price (at that time) for it - $75. I knew that was more than the machine cost new. I finally went back, after walking around the flea market, and decided to buy it. I got it for $70 - that's all the guy would budge on the price. Mine still has the unique model 300 plug on it.

I have one too!!!

I found it in the garbage around 25 years ago. Somebody sprayed the base in silver and masked off the red & white badge. It came with a DVC brown replacement bag that looks like it was made for a model 28. It had a horrible smell of cat urine IIRC that's long since dissipated. The red band around the motor is somewhat reminiscent of the model 725. I guess these were the very LAST of the coffee can Hoovers.

For being the last coffee can machine Hoover produced, I personally feel it was well designed (can't go wrong with Henry Dreyfuss!). It also allowed people who couldn't afford a 150 the opportunity to own a Hoover with all the standard features of the day in the Hoover line. Beautiful machine you have there!
