Hoover 28

It must be cold where it came from. The old owner didn't want it to get cold.. It had 3 coats in the box with it.

Nice Find, Scott!

The 28 is one of my favorite Hoovers and one of the machines that I think every collector should have. Don't think I've ever seen a bag that looks quite like that. I think you'll enjoy it.
And by the way, thanks again for the Kirby Classic.
Jeff

Wow... that's some creative packing... the handle sticking through the box!

Anyone have any restoration tips for a 28, or are they common enough to find a one that is in better shape? Mine has the original bag but it has holes in it, the hand grip is cracked, the handle wiggles side to side, the motor housing threads are stripped out so the hood is loose, and the hood is all scuffed up.... but it runs like a champ! Should I trash it and look for a better one, or are any of theses things an easy fix?

thanks :o)

You won't need those coats

in Florida. The 28 was a popular model. Hoover made a lot of them. I think there are plenty of them still around by virtue of the fact that they were, and still are, bullet-proof. ...one of my favorites as well!

I ALWAYS wanted a Hoover 28...

BUT, I have yet to Buy one, even though I have seen MANY on ebay. :(

Basically, other then my Concept 1, all the Hoover's I own are Convertible's and I CAN'T STOP BUYING THEM, IT'S SICK AND WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!! Heck, I just Won 3 new old Metal Base Hoover Convertible's off ebay just this Week and am Bidding on two more as we speak and I NEED to STOP, someone HELP me for the LOVE of Cheese Cake!!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW John, you are gonna give me your Aqua Convertible there, right...? ;) Ah Come On, you don't need that Aqua Convertible there, no, you don't, lol, so give it to me, GIMME, GIMME, GIMME, LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, right now on ebay, is an Aqua Convertible JUST LIKE YOURS there, EXACTLY like yours, a Model 593, if that's what yours is, so if no other Bids are put in on it, at the last Minute, I'm gonna put in a nice little Bid and we'll see if I Win it or not... ;) HOPEFULLY I do, as I have ALWAYS wanted a FULL-Bumper, NO-Headlight Aqua Convertible you know... ;)

Later and May The Force Be Your Onion!!!!!!!! :D

I saw the Model 28 you are talking about Mike... ;)

In fact, the same Guy Selling that one, is the same Guy who I just Bought a Hoover Convertible 1030 from and a 1959 Hoover Convertible Model 67 from with Original Instruction Book... ;)

Yeah, so not only did I Buy those two, but I Bought an almost ALL Original Model 33 Convertible, like Jeff Parker's, plus am Bidding on and about to Win two Convertible's on ebay as we speak, so that's why I can't Buy that Model 28, I'm almost running out of Money in my Bank Account, lol!

It's too bad though, but I do have a Birthday coming up soon, so who knows, maybe someone will send me a Model 28 then or something...? ;)

Although, there is a Hoover I'd much rather have and been wanting for a while now, it was made just before my 1957 Model 65 Convertible and sorta looks like one to, in a way, but I can't think of what Model or Name it is????

You know what, I think it is called a Hoover Citation or something like that...? ;)

Later!

Hoover Citation

Yes, the Hoover Citation (model 64) came right before the Convertible line (1955-56), and was the last square hood model, and the first with a perforated vinyl outer bag. It has a white base with beige trim and red lettering. Just got one about 2 months ago off eBay, and the outer bag is in pretty good shape. I almost bought the convertible 65 you got, but the seller would only accept PayPal, and I'm not into that....
