That's an awesome picture of those two Electrolux cleaners? Where ever did you find them? As well as the Rexair model D in the original hassock. You are SO lucky to have them. And look at that Lindhaus “Lindwash” in the doorway. That black and white tile floor, with that Frigidaire refrigerator from the 50s sure is pretty. Why, I have that same table. Congratulations.

I just typed in Electrolux model G into Google!
My favorite Electrolux vacuum is the model G and when I made my Vacuumland account, I wanted a picture of the front of an Electrolux model G. I looked for a while and found this image. I do not own these vacuums and I am not sure if they are part of a private collection. I have a question, which would you buy? A hardly used Electrolux model S or a prewar Electrolux model xxx.
My favorite Electrolux vacuum is the model G and when I made my Vacuumland account, I wanted a picture of the front of an Electrolux model G. I looked for a while and found this image. I think the motors in both are nearly identical but I could be wrong.
The pre war XXX is certainly nice and has beautiful design characteristics but from a practical usable standpoint I’d go with the S. First off it has wheels....secondly you can use the disposable C bags with it which will forever be available since they have been using that design since 1954 and still use it today in the Aerus Lux Classic and Aerus Lux Legacy sold today. Also the cloth bag these came with can be used if desired. Third, the S is so light that it makes it so easy to use and the attachments the S came with are the combination rug and floor tool and the combination upholstery tool dusting brush (contour tool). These both are easier to use because of the 2 in 1 feature. The XXX tools are metal and very nice but all are single purpose except the rug tool which has 2 sides...one for more concentrated airflow.
So there you have some comparison to consider!

The G was....
the pinnacle of old school Elux tanks IMO. Not without its faults though;easy to tip over and those wheels were ridiculously weak for the weight they supported.
I never had an S, but wouldn't hesitate to get it over the older XXX. Elux kept producing bigger/stronger motors up to and including the Super J.
After the G is was all about 60's/70's/80's styling. The G was the last Elux tank that had a 'real' dedicated foot switch for ON & OFF. If you've ever taken one apart versus what came later, you'd know.
But by comparison, the 1205's were nearly indestructible, won't tip over and Super J's are still active all around the country...even taped up and with broken handles. So are the other metal tanks up to and including the Diamond J.

I have one in the Vacuum Museum, a 1937 model in pristine condition. They are so hard to find. Post war model 30's are easy to find. Since you like the model G, are you aware of the Hospital Model G's that had the extra fiberglass filter at the end making them nearly silent?

Antique vacs like the XXX only have value to other collectors. Some owners have just given them away. There's not a good set of reliable prices on old vacs....it's whatever you can get for them. So buying a XXX isn't an 'investment' for sure.
On the other hand if you find one in an original case/box with all the attachments and in pristine condition....obviously on eBay, someone will pay well for it.

To dysonman1. Yes I have heard of the Electrolux Hospital G but I do not own one. I would love to own an Electrolux Hospital G but I never see them at my local vac shop or Ebay.
To Real1shep. I collect vacuums to use and display. Not all of the vacuums that I own work well or even work at all but I still like to display them because cosmetically they are in good shape. I am looking for a vacuum with a highly collectable status but every time I find one, it sells fast. I already own an Electrolux model G but the motor in mine has an ozone smell and likes to shut off 10 seconds after I turn it on. Sometimes it does not turn on at all. I am currently in the market for a working Electrolux model G with its powernozzle and some attachments. The pre war model xxx that I found was $40 plus $14.99 for shipping.

Hospital G's......
are very rare. Most Elux collectors would covet one. I had a chance at one about an hr drive away in OR, but a member here flew out a few days before from Cali and bought it.
With the plane fare and rental car, he paid dear and I harbor no ill will towards him. A person could fabricate one from looking at a real one, for less than the price of a real one.

While they are rare they are out there to be had. I have 2 one turquoise and the other tan and white. Both are missing the filters as it was sometimes common for people to take them off and not put them back on.

I'm sorry.....
but without the filter setup as per factory, their value to a collector diminishes.
I certainly wouldn't pay any premium price for a Hospital G without the filter setup.
I'm not trying to denigrate your collection, just giving an opinion.

$100 for the tan one which was low miles and $40 for the other I’d say I didn’t pay anywhere full value. Regardless of filter or not they still hold a value and no offense taken. Thanks for the compliment.

Yep......
G's have held nice value for the eBay collector crowd for some yrs now.
Many yrs ago on eBay some couple became heirs to a substantial number of Elux vacs. They had G's coming out of their ears and others.....all kinds of accessories.....PN's, wands....you name it.
They just wanted the stuff gone and got tired of dealing with eBay. That was one of the few times G's went for dirt on eBay and I'm talking like $15 for really nice units.
Then a few yrs ago a guy about an hr away got all the works from a deceased Elux dealer through the surviving son....for pennies on the dollar.
I offered to act as a broken and secure anything Elux that folks may have wanted at the time. Fell absolutely flat here.....nada. AFAIK, he still has most of the stuff. I should touch base with him again. But my offer no longer stands.
