Last week I switched the handles from my model 28 hoover because the original one was broken and switched it with another that I got from 2011Hoover700. After taking the cord and wiring off and putting it back in I was going to plug in the hoover and didn't turned on so I took it to the garage and worked on the wire connection on the on off switch, I plugged it in and all of a sudden it made a electrical pop with a spark so was assuming the original cord was not good to use. I just got a new cord from the mail today and correctly put it in and still doesn't turn on. Maybe it needs a new switch?

Switch

Is a good first thing to check. If you bypass the swith direct connect the power cord that will tell you if the switch is bad.

I test switches with an electrical multi meter and I often do so before I bypass anything. Often using the ohms setting if the switch reads 0 it's fine. If it reads infinity in the on position it's shot and I will check a switch before I send 1 if necessary.
Usually I don't personally bypass the switch without using my electrical multi meter because I have discovered a bad switches using it.

Yeah it's probably a bad switch because the strange thing from last week and yesterday is that when I connect the cord to the switch and plugged it in, one part the electrical breaker went off. 😐

Some of the switches that I have seen have sparked when you turn on the vacuum or turn off the vacuum.

If you have to toggle several times to get it to turn on or off the switch is definitely going bad.

My guess is this is what happened to your switch.

It also looked like a bare wire in the picture in your previous post.

Well this time it's not about the power switch because I should be getting a replacement soon. This is about the cooling fan cover. After taking apart the motor to grease up the bearings, the armature spins freely without the upper bearing cooling fan cover. But it kinda struggles when putting back on the armature and the armature gets stuck. Just letting y'all know I did not turned it on thankfully. Don't know what I did wrong on why it's doing that.
