Hello Guido,

Good luck with the restoration work, those colours can be a nightmare to match!!

I had the same problem with my 1334A (grey) but then found a supplier of car paint who holds sample cards for just about any colour/shade you can image; metalic or flat?

Hi-low,

This place is in Telford.

Regards, Walter.

Hi Guido

I heard lots about your collection from Guy, It looks really great. I use a Auto paint store to get the colours right buteven they sometimes get it wrong.

I use a wire brush hooked up to a angle grinder to remove the old paint, It works great then just a flat final sand with 600gritt water paper before primer, base coat and clear coat.

Hi everyone ! And thanks for the nice comments !

PORTABLE : yes they still produce and sell floor cleaners with fabric bags in ITALY, even if they are no longer popular like in the past ( in the first 90's the self-glittering waxes were introduced and floor polishers soon became obsolete ). I've also noticed that this kind of polisheres were a very Italian/French phenomenon : in the 50's and 60's carpets were not popular in Italy and every house tried to keep its marble/wood floors ( but also tiles ! ) clean and glittering like a mirror ! So we had this type of machines from brands like AEG,SIEMENS, PHILIPS, ELECTROLUX and even HOOVER Ltd produced its own line of floor cleaners in italy and for Italy , but they were different from every model sold in the rest of the world.

GSHEEN : I have been watching many of your posts for a long time and adore some of the cleaners I have seen ! With many interesting restorations like the last 652 in green . But I have not seen your restored 638 yet !Do you also have a 160 or do I remember wrong ? Would you post some image for me of the two !?
I also had much fun with GUY and Anthony and I am curious to see how the program will come out to be ?!!!

Well,as far as the 262 HOOVER restoration, I know its not the original color scheme but I already have 2 nice ones for display, and this one was missing so many parts and was in such sorry conditions that I wanted to create something different for everyday use, ...for another more precious model I probably would have spent more time finding the correct color...but anyway the hammeryte-effect of the paint would have been anyway impossible to re-create...

And thanks to the others for appreciating my collection !
