I was out and about today heading to a demo for rainbow. My demo was located in Oneida NY. Usually when I am in Oneida I go and see a dear friend of mine who has a shop. Today when I stopped in he was not there but the maintenance man for the building was. Apparently the tenants upstairs from the shop had a little overflow issue. Her kid put a toy or two down the toilet which caused it to overflow which the Caused the float to stick keeping the water running. As soon as the mother found out about this she tried shutting the toilet off from the valve which broke off in her hand causing some major flooding. Below the bathroom sat a shelf with some very very fine examples of convertibles, and other makes of machines. Seeing this I called my friend to let him know what happened and luckily he was on his way to the shop. I started moving stuff off of the shelves and off of the wet surfaces. One of the machines a Hoover 150. Now keep in mind I have been after one of these for a VERY LONG time. I asked if he had another one and he hesitated but responded that he did and that I was welcome to take it home. The machine is rough but will be restored as best as It can be.

The 150.....

Or the One Fifty Cleaning Ensemble was introduced in 1936, and discontented in 1939. Was the first non coffee can Hoover made, with a plastic motor hood. Also had 10 other major improvements, such as a bag check indicator, it was made of Air Plane magnesium that was 1/3rd lighter than previous models, was the first to have the rectangle molded clip on plug, and also had a automatic rug adjuster, first to have the push in tool converter, among others too. It was really the first new machine of its kind introduced in 10 long years, and even then in 1936 was years a head of its time!

Thanks jae for the history, wasn't too sure as it has been a while since I last brought in a machine. The machine is in the shop at my office now and restoration will begin this evening.
