Hoover 150 / 160 parts

Hi everyone

I'm messaging from the UK. I wondered if there is anyone who I can contact with regards to parts for a Hoover 150? I actually have a couple of Hoover 160s - the UK version - and I'm looking for some bits and bobs to complete my restoration. I am not sure if the 150 parts are compatible with the 160? I know there were some differences - but I hope the parts will be interchangeable.

Can you list which parts you are looking for here please, and perhaps some UK members can help you out. There are many signifigant differences between the 150 and the 160 to the extent that they are almost completely different machines, in spite of a superficial resemblence. This, combined with the cost of shipping parts to the UK .....

Hi guys - thanks for the replies

I'm looking for a couple of things to start. Forgive me for not using the correct (Hoover) descriptions for these parts - I'm still learning

First - the phenol / bakelite cover for the foot operated handle release - mine was broke in the past and is badly repaired with a part missing.

Second - the phenol / bakelite bag collar. It has one of the locating hooks missing - and a part of the periphery into which the seal sits is also missing.

Can anyone help with these?

Well I know over here the bag retaining ring will be close to impossible to find. I am still looking for a spare.

I have two 150s and have been looking for parts for ages. No luck on finding any. Speaking of which I need to get down to painting their bases. Another project on the list. Lol

I am not sure what it would cost to ship it to Britain. I would say that with shpping container and all, it would be approximately 2 US pounds in weight. Waddya think? </span>

Also, a small piece of the seal gasket on the backside is missing. Again, not enough to compromise performance, I think.....I can take some pictures, if you want to see.</span>

Hi guys

Thanks super-sweeper - I saw that on eBay and wondered what it might be? It's a different shape and has a much smaller diameter outlet. I suspected it may be a 'blower' attachment?

machineage........Another option is to find out if a bag ring from another model could be substituted to at least get-by.  I'm wondering if the diameter of the bag ring and the spacing of the tabs that hang on the lug nuts to attach it are the same as some earlier models then it might be possible to get by with a "not perfect match" but something that will get the job done.


 


Someone who has both a 150/160 and other models with a round bag port ...please see if they are interchangeable!


 


Yet another option is to fashion a replacement bag ring out of plexiglass.  There is enough of the old one to use as a pattern.


 


The handle release pedal could likewise potentially be recreated with a lot of patience and carving skill.
