Hoover 105 or 102?

Hello, I'm newly registered after researching my new, old Hoover here for a couple of weeks. I got this at a garage sale. The older gentleman said that it sat in his father's garage for years and in his garage for just as many years and he asked me to give it a good home.

The old (definitely replacement) bag was in tatters so I added a new one, and a new belt. Everything else seems to be original. A little clean-up and it runs well. It's so quiet compared to the new ones!

It's got the non-Hoover motor. It has 9 30 stamped on the bottom which I found out here is the September, 1930 rebuild date.

Is it a 102 or a 105? Thanks for all the information!

Congratulations on a great find! I know virtually nothing about vintage Hoover vacuums. However, there are many on this forum who can probably answer your question.

Thanks eurekastar! I just can't figure out which model it is. The bottom doesn't have the notice of where to place the round bottom plate and it has the older Robbins & Myers motor (but doesn't have the brass top plate).

I'm wondering if it's an earlier model that was kind of upgraded during its rebuild...

It's a 102. That was the last hoover model that had a Robbins and Myers motor.

In pictures, I'm having trouble seeing what style of bumper it should have. This one has a remnant of what looks like black cotton belting - like a boy scout belt. Is that possible?

The bumper is hard rubber, but was probably soft rubber 96 years ago.
