Since there had been some discussion of the early 2000 Hoover’s I thought I’d share some of the more unusual Hoover’s that I have from that era. These certainly aren’t the only ones but I’ve managed to nab these units over the years. There is of course the infamous Z with its folding body and self cleaning filter along the dual V and the quad agitators. They all sound like great ideas on paper but kinda fail in implementation. I don’t much about the history of these machines, perhaps Hoover trying to innovate or a dying company (before it sold to TTI) grasping as straws for a successful idea??

Plastic

Vacuum that copied others designs. They failed to make better vacuums but made more powerful vacuums.
There management and running of the company sank them before this. They opened and closed factories in the mid 1990s. They were sinking before these were made.
The vacuums weren't made of the best quality as they were already losing money every year.
They are owned by TTI and you still see vacuums with hoover logo on them. There are very few with American origins still made.
Kirby and rexair I think filter queen and Bissell if you consider them as a vacuum company.

They certainly had some interesting stuff in the mid-late 2000s era. I've never used a Z but I have looked at a few of the Z400 that came into Habitat, so heavy.

The Hoover Dual V I think was competing against a Kenmore model that had dual brush rolls as well around that time. I don't know much about either though.

Was the Hoover Duo V The bagless twin-chamber one with the two motor system and double brush rollers? The one I’m thinking of kind of resembled a Hoover wind tunnel twin chamber upright, but it had a two motor system, and the bin pulled out from the side instead of from the front. Also the hose wrapped around the back instead of the side .
