I can't believe I forgot to share this with you all!  I did post on Facebook, but not here.

So I finally used my KitchenAid Mixer to make white bread.  It came out amazingly! Light and yummy, it's almost gone in 3 days and just two hungry mouths!  I used it to make sandwiches, French toast, and plain toast and jelly.  I only have 1 loaf pan, so I made some dinner rolls with the other half of the dough.

So excited that I can still make bread!  It had been well over a decade since I tried.  The last attempt, I believe, was a Thanksgiving when I wanted to contribute to the meal, so I made the dinner rolls.  They did not come out as I had hoped, and were largely ignored at the dinner table.  That crushed my bread-making spirit.

Thanks to KitchenAid, my bread-making spirit just may have returned.

I really

Don't like to made delicate cakes with my K5, but it is unexcelled for doughs of anykind. Its 50 years old and still kneads bread and makes cookie dough great.

@charleskirby66. Nice job with the homemade bread. I like my kitchen aid for that as well. I'm the bread baker in the family. I have a recipe I use out of a Good housekeeping cook book that dates back to the late 60's.

@kenkart. I too have had some difficulty with cakes a well. Not sure what it is about it. I have noticed it is the most notice able with boxed one step angel food cake mixes. They just don't seem to rise like they do with a standard beater mixer.

Damn...

Those pictures made me hungry and I just ate supper! I wish I had managed to snag my grandmother's Kitchenaid mixer. I have no idea whatever happened to it. Guess I'll just have to make do with my Sunbeam chrome Mixmaster Vista from the '70s. It was a really nice $5.75 thrift shop find a few years ago.

School bread

OMG yes! My high school had the BEST rolls and bread. My grandma actually used to work in the kitchen, and they supplied lunches to most of the schools in my hometown (there are over 40 schools in the district). They used the same bread recipe to make rolls, wiener wraps (hot dogs rolled up in bread and baked), cinnamon rolls, and pizza dough. Oh, if I could only have a slice of that delicious school pizza again!!!

She gave the the recipe once, but it was RIDICULOUS because of the portions (ingredients measured in pounds, not cups). I could never convert it down, and I lost it since then.
