I was fortunate enough to be able to acquire three rare Kirbys from Jim Kirby when we went to the storage cleanout. The oldest just says model C on the plate, serial nbr. 725310. The model 505 is the one I've wanted for a long time, it's the one I grew up with, the third rare one is a Scott and Fetzer which needs motor work and will post pics of that one later. I had sent an Omega to the spa with the older ones, that's why she made it into the pic...lol. The shop that buffs for me does a wonderful job, although he hates doing it but will do it for our local collectors. Up until now my oldest was the 511, so I'm excited to have these.

Glam shot Model 505

I never thought I would find one of these in this shape. I ordered one of the new genuine Kirby replacement bags for it as it had a later faded out bag when I got it. Original cord is taped in a few places and has a replacement plug, so will order one of the new black Kirby replacement cords.

Early birthday present...

Alex came over tonight, and gave me an early birthday present, a Hoover Deluxe Convertible 4009, in a great color, and it's the only one in my collection with the design on the bag. What is that called again? Alex detailed and tuned it, and it's in beautiful condition! Thanks Alex!

Amazing Rick! Those Kirby's are just beautiful. They all look to be in mint condition. Your guy sure does great work! Glad that you have the 505 now since it has such special memories. Thanks for sharing!!

I was going to ask the same question!

Rick - is that an orange Oreck "Dutch-Tech" vac hiding next to the chair? I think these Orecks were made by Philips in Holland.....hence the name "Dutch-Tech"......

Oreck Canister

That was actually the predecessor to the DutchTech. That's either a 1500 or 3500 Celoc canister with the CAP-175 power nozzle. The full bag indicator is called the "power eye." I think Oreck discontinued the bags for this model. Is that a Hoover Innovation I see in the same photo? ;-)

Thanks for the clarification on that Karl!!!!

Yes...indeed from the side it does look like one of those older Oreck Celoc canisters - very well rated by Consumer Reports in its day if I remember correctly......

Glad I could be of assistance. I have that same canister. Oreck had a commercial machine called the "Bigfoot" that was the same color orange and used the same power nozzle. A good machine (so I've been told) that was replaced by the Dual Stack. Now the Dual Stack has been replaced by the commercial "Sanitaire-esque" Perfect line.

Yup

Brian and Brandon, that is an Oreck Celoc canister model 1500 with the matching big foot powernozzle. I bought it from Nathan(Electrolux-Dude) at the last convention. It's only was issue was a stuck cordwinder, and that was remedied by Glen Dienst if I remember correctly before the convention was over. It's a nice machine for sure, though like dragging a coffee table around behind you! I use Kenmore 5023 bags in it, fit perfectly. I believe it is of better construction than the DutchTech, but doesn't have as good of suction. The Dutchtechs are gone, and we are awaiting the arrival of a new canister with a power nozzle, which I'm sure will be made in China unfortunately. We have a new straight suction canister called the Quest which have sold very well, nice vacuum, but alas made in China. So far they plan on keeping the XL upright assembly in Cookeville, Tn.

Yes Karl, that's an Innovation beside the Oreck.
