My good friend Bill knows of my passions for cooking and for vintage mixers. He gave me this brand new 1956 Dormeyer Silver Chef mixer. For our Christmas at the in-laws, I made a Southern Pound Cake with Strawberries. Much love to Hans Craig for his recipe.

First you gather the ingredients. Six eggs. 3 cups of sugar. 3 cups all purpose flour. One cup self rising flour. Two sticks of butter. 1/4 cup Crisco. One can evaporated milk. 1 tablespoon vanilla. 1 tablespoon lemon extract. Grease and flour a large tube pan. Plug in your 1956 Dormeyer. Heat your oven to 325°.

All your ingredients should be at room temperature. Cream together the Crisco and the butter. Add the sugar and continue to cream the ingredients for at least three or four minutes. It should be light, fluffy, and airy. It is hard to overbeat the mixture at this point.
