Hi everybody! I just want to share my vacuum collection with you all!

Hi Gareth - the innovative brush roll in the Kenmore is the same that was featured in the Panasonic Icon sold in the UK. Look for YouTube clips showing the Icon and you'll see the vac in action.

With the direct drive technology, it is easier to offer the user a "gentle" setting that slows down the brush roll. Too bad Panasonic is leaving the North American vacuum market. :-(. They were great innovators.

Here's a great demonstration from humourous Roger "Sensotronic" in England:

Original Price

For how much did the Kenmore originally sell for new and when would it have been sold? I seem to remember it was a pretty expensive machine sold in the early to mid 2000's, but I'm not sure.

Thanks.

The Direct Drive was pricey when new and yours was TOL, it also came in a bagless version. They first came in the early 2000s but yours is more mid to late 2000s. I would guess 2005-08 was around when yours was sold. They are great machines, too bad the newer ones lack many of the features that yours has. I've used the bagless version and it was great. Some of these came with a wand and floor brush as well, does yours have one?

I like the Broom Vacs too. I've seen several pop up in thrift shops and even the side of the road, but as yet I haven't aquired any.

I like your photo where you say the vintage hand vacs can't figure out the Dyson, great caption. lol

fan-of-fans

Thanks for the info! I'm glad I have the bagged version instead of the bagless one. Those have the little cylindrical pleated paper filter at the top of the bin; I'm not a fan of that system. Despite their price, I'd still rather have the hepa cloth bags.

I'm glad the machine doesn't have a belt, because buying even the bags alone might put me out of house and home lol.

As far as the floor tool, sadly, I don't have it. I didn't even know one existed--there is no storage space for one on the vacuum. The Kenmore is missing that in addition to whatever upholstery attachment mounts behind the handle. But for $5, I'm still pretty happy!
