I'm not trying to sound too political here but I'm definitely in favor of this reversal. I believe government regulations don't help much if not at all whatsoever. Anybody can use what they want whether that's energy efficient or old school. As for me, it basically depends on what product it is. Personally I favor LED over incandescent light bulbs because they make more sense to me. In fact ever since I upgraded my Beam Rugmaster Plus powerhead to a LED bulb, no more burning out headlights so fast which was a problem for incandescent light bulbs. As for washing machines, well at least for top loaders, I favor old school. Again that HE top loader I've mentioned before my grandfather has is trash, that also applies to any HE top loader that uses a impeller. In my opinion I think Speed Queen makes the last good top loaders on the market today and this reversal could help keep making the classic models for a while at least. If only SQ would bring back the 2017 models that uses a mechanical dial and water selector knob, those appear to be more reliable and rinse better than the electronic models or even the 2018 models that were created to meet with the EPA requirements which doesn't even clean as well as the classic models. But there is one type of washer that I'd use over any top loader and that's a front loader. SQ also makes one that appears to be probably the best front loader if not the best all time washer on the market today, in fact I just got one of those for my grandfather. As for dishwashers, I prefer the ones that are super quiet and energy efficient as long as they get the dishes clean like my grandfather's newer KitchenAid. But my aunt has an LG she bought a few years ago and it's trash, so bad where basically pre rinsing is required before running the dishwasher. That makes me respect and appreciate the older dishwashers more like the Whirlpool Power Cleans which arguably are the best dishwashers ever made. I think the dishwashers are the most challenging part to see a change from this reversal, the folks over on automaticwasher.org made a great point that the whole globe is focused on energy saving products. Not to mention that this reversal could only last for four years so it's only a matter of time before the energy restrictions are back. Plus manufactures are cutting costs where they won't bother to retool again. Anyways, there is however one thing from all of this that could change at least according to John who's the CEO of SEBO USA. The EPA from the last administration was a bit of a struggle for SEBO, I won't cover the whole story but basically SEBO had to remove a couple of advertisements on their machines because the EPA was simply confused by their marketing but we've certainly never had a problem with it and the marketing claims are actually true. So John said that SEBO could go back to putting those claims like the anti-allergy hospital grade/S-class filtration markings on the machines.
