Logo Plate

Does anyone know what year or on what model they changed the Hoover Logo on the base from the metal plate to the smaller (and far less permanent) decal? I am thinking it couldn't have been very long after this (1966). Never quite felt the same about the models with that cheap decal. This also seemed to correspond with when they took the metal plate with the model info and watts (tools vs. floor) etc. off of the underside.

If memory serves

Tom Anderson told me they made the change in April 1966. That is why the 35, 36, and 70 could be bought with either the clip on medalion or the sticker depending on when they were made. That is how I know both my 35 & 36 are early models Luckily both my 35 and 36 have a clip on medallion which I think gives the machines a more 50's feel to them. Filtequeen83 does your 35 have the sticker or the clip on medallion.....PAT COFFEY

Model 35

I've got one too, it was given to me by Norm Brown, who won it and another vault vac for his display at this year's Convention. It runs like a champ, but I'm not sure right off hand whether it has the medallion or decal, but I think it has the medallion. Thanks again, Norm!

Your model 35 has the sticker. The easiest way to tell is that the sticker is smaller than the Madallion. Another way to tell is if you flip over the machine and remove the beater bar on a madallion machine you will see the little clips for the madallion poking through the base of the machine. You will not see that on a sticker machine....I just noted another difference between your machine and mine. Your bag just says Hoover where mine says Hoover Convertible.......PAT COFFEY

Visual Timeline

Has Hoover or anyone else ever produced a visual timeline of Hoover models over the years. Aerus has one for Electrolux. Would be interesting to see.

I think it would harder for Hoover to do that that it was fo

Mainly because Electrolux at any given time only offered a few models...where Hoover not only had uprights but after 1947 they added a whole slew of cylinder cleaners and more uprights as well as stick vacs and the Dial-A-Matic. Jeff Parker at one time had done up a list of Convertible models and Dial-A-Matic's as well as there tool kits but his list did not have pics.....PAT COFFEY
