Help!!!

Me And My Dad Were Washing My Cousins Carpet and I Was Vacuuming The Other Room with My Sanitaire Sc886 and I Did Not Notice But When I Vacuumed I Accidentally Went Over The Wet Carpet And My Vacuum Got Even Louder. Then I Shut Off and Flipped Over and It Was Wet!!!! Will My Sanitaire Still Work Or Is It Dead?:,(

Erm, mr. Morgan, given that a Sanitaire is a dirty-fan vac, and that no water would actually get into the electrics, then it wouldn't be dead just cos it sucked up water...

Remove the bag, brush roll, belt and bottom cover then upturn it and leave it for about a week.

Then try it, if it doesn't turn on again, it has probably had it.

P.S. Only attempt to turn it on again after drying it out if your house has an ELCB or RCD fitted.

I think given that it happened a couple of weeks ago, it should be dry by now...

Also, if yours has the Quick Kleen fan chamber. Take the fan off and dry out the lower motor bearing so it does not rust. It is not a hard job replacing it but if you can save it then go for it! Trust me you don't want to know what a bad bearing "LOWER" in a pancake motor sounds like!!!!!

The best thing to do would be to take it some where that you can turn the machine on and let the heat from the motor and air flow dry it out. I sucked up water in the kirby vacuuming out a vehicle.

I tiped it to the side and let the water run out of the fan case and started the machine back up for 10 min with the bag off and let it dry out. no harm done.

We have had employees vacuum wet track off mats in the winter with minimal damage.

address it at the time it happens and you will save the machine. And there is little danger of electic shock by doing this. Unless of course you dropped it in the bath tub. The you are S.O.L.
