So, this post is probably going to seem pretty bland for a vacuum enthusiast. For that I am sorry. I came here because my brand new Bissell Power Force Compact Turbo has been making a weird loud noise. There is also a little plastic piece on the bottom that keeps coming off (I think it is called the roller lifter based on my google searching).

Is there anything I can do at home to fix it? I have checked the filters and tank on it and emptied them, made sure all tubes are connected etc. I thought it might be an issue with the roller but it works fine.

I added some photos. Please help me vacuum gurus.

Hello :)

Is it the motor that is making a distorted noise? If so, maybe some dust has made its way in. I'm from the UK and we don't have these bissell cleaners, but from a point of view of someone who has actually watched scientific reviews of cleaners like this I 'know' they're pretty bad. This isn't your fault though and I forgive you :)

I see the plastic that's coming off. It looks to be part of something to lift the brushroll off the ground when idle? You looked it up anyway so I think it might be that as well.

I've seen a series of videos on YouTube of someone who has this series of cleaner but it's not the turbo version and it's in blue, and the motor is very amplified. It started when they were attempting to do a full house clean with it. IS this the sort of sound you're talking about?

I'd really love to help but I'm not someone who strips down vacuums or anything so I'm really sorry, anyhow I'm still quite interested :)

First try removing the base and roller and belt then switch on the cleaner to see if the noise is motor related and you will see if its from bearing of t he roller or the motor on its way out best way to find out i think .

Brushes

It could be carbon brushes. The motor is super small trying to produce high power.
Check the belt and brush roll first.

Run the machine without the dust bin attached, and see if the noise is the same. If the noise is gone, you likely have a clog some place. If not, I would wager it's a problem with the brush roll. I cannot recall if these units have a separate motor for the brush. Perhaps also try running it with the brush removed and see if the noise is still present.

For Madman

I'm pretty sure the brushroll on this is belt-driven which means you wouldn't be able to turn it off. I've heard these in operation on YouTube and by the sound I can tell it's belt-driven, and you'd often get belt-driven brushrolls in the budget world of vacuums. No hate intended :)

Mikanic

Kenmore elite brushroll is driven by air. Maybe learn up before you call someone out.
YouTube that no pun intended.

LES .....

its you who need to learn about vacuum all bissels upright bag or bal less use the motor safth of the vacuum motor to turn the belt NOT AIR that would refer to the turbo nozzle you attach to the hsoe but the base power head of the upright noo that is a motor that drive the belt electric sorry lee but you always talk to fast be fore you learn once again ....

The bissels power force compact turbop hasa output saft that spins the belt of the power foot power head at the bottom of the machine that motor is not air its electric suction motor powers the brush roll via safth and belt the same motor who makes the suctio nand airflow spins the brushroll ia a belt that motor is electric most upright use the main suction motor whit a output safth to spin the bruhroll

except electrolux who hada seperate motor for the pn allowing it to shut off the brush roller but in this bissel case the belt turns whit the suction motor output saft no on off switch i own 2 bissels in the past .... soprry but it is whati t is .;

Antoine

I know about the Bissell power force. I've owned a few.
My symphony has no belt.
The shop vac of Bissell has one with brush roll one without.
European vacuum's don't use power nozzles. They use air driven attachments.
Thanks for the lesson but I already know everything you posted.
There is a few Bissell without a belt for the power brush.
He came across acting like madman is stupid. I don't like people who post like that. .
Antoine you seem bothered by my posts. I joke around. I also don't like people who be better than or be little another member. He could have worded his post differently. I could have but I wanted my point to hit home.
If you want my advice on the vacuum I'd say the motor is burned up and throw it away. I do think they have really great styling. I just wish they wouldn't shove a geo metro motor in a sports car chassis.
You can rebuttal but I'll not jump in unless someone crosses the line.

Read up

Here is some pics. You will notice their is a brush roll. You will see no belt. It uses cylindrical force from one of its 2 motors. The brush roll pulls 150 Cfm's.
Its an air driven Brush roll exactly what I said.
Maybe Antoine look up Kenmore elite I'm attaching pics and you will notice IM NOT wrong. Bissell has 2 vacuums similar to this.
When testing my knowledge don't use basic vacuum logic.

Direct drive

Les, I just mean to educate you better on your vacuum, not to argue. The direct drive badge on that Kenmore Elite means that they put the motor inside the brushroll. I'm not completely sure how it was done but if you take the brushroll out and take off the end caps you will see little carbon brushes for the motor. I used to have one of those Elites, they work great!

Thanks, Garrett

Thanks

I was wrong on its power. It has no belt and it's a brush roll.
I'll admit I was wrong. Don't try to call people out.
