Help with Electrolux Model LX

I recently received a Electrolux Model LX and am trying to find out a bit more about it. It seems to have been retro fitted with a set of wheels on the sleds at some point. Any information about this would appreciated, as it did not come with a manual.

If you click on Manuals & Literature at the top of the page you will find it Electrolux Users Manual (Model LX). It will cost $6.12 and you can download it. It is provided by Automatic Ephemera and they have a number of manuals that are downloadable.

I don't know anything about those wheels but the brackets look like they were made specifically for that application, not something that somebody bodged together in their basement. Rare OEM or third party add-on perhaps?

The wheels are genuine Electrolux after-market parts. The Model LX just proved too heavy to drag across heavy rugs so Electrolux engineers came up with the clip-on wheels.


 


The LXI came with a rear axle with wheels plus a large swiveling caster in the front, replacing the bag storage area. See link.

Thank you for information on how to get a manual, will be doing that for sure.

About the wheels, I have seen a lot of pictures online of vacuums with them. The ones on our vacuum seem to be as old as the vacuum itself. Good to know that they are a genuine after-market part.

After reading through the links provided, it seem like I have a later make of the LX, maybe 1954? As it has the clear plastic knob with the red writing on it, and the Electrolux on the side is not the red and yellow. The cord winder is also the hammertone blue, and not the chrome-plated.

Now I just have to hunt down some of the original attachments, as it only came with one.

Yes, your LX is a later model. What attachments do y0u need?


 


When I was around 11-12 years old I used to do chores and odd jobs for a well-to-do lady named Golden Brooks. She had a huge three-story victorian house. The vast, spacious living room was a sea of ankle-thick robin's egg blue wall-to-wall carpeting. She had an Electrolux Model G with what she called "The Pounder" -- the power nozzle. Whenever I went to her house to do odd jobs, somehow I always ended up using her Electrolux! She kept it on her glassed-in sun porch in a green leatherette hamper.


 


One day I noticed a little booklet in one of the vinyl pockets inside the hamper. It had a brightly colored cover. I pulled it out and saw it was the instruction manual for a Model "LX" which I had never heard of! I asked her about the booklet and she said it was an older Electrolux that she took over to her beach cottage when she got the new one. Well, there was no end to the pestering and hint-dropping to go over to her beach cottage! I wanted to see that old Electrolux.


 


Anyhow, to make a long story even longer, we did finally go over there one day so I could help her clean up the yard. I looked and looked and looked for that Electrolux and finally found it under the bed in the guest bedroom! It had a Model G replacement hose which was connected to the machine along with the wands and rug nozzle. It was the same version as the LX that you just got except that it didn't have wheels.


 


I pulled it out and said I would like to use it and with a chuckle she said yes. After vacuuming her entire cottage with it I asked if she had the floor polisher attachment for it. She said she did but didn't know where it was. Well Little Busy Snooper went to work finding it! It was in the last place I looked -- in an outdoor storage shed, sitting on a shelf still in the box. "Be still, my beating heart!" It looked like it had never been used. I talked her into letting me have it. My mom was not pleased when I brought it home because she KNEW that I w0uld never give it a rest. And she was right!!
