Just got these two in. Was looking to find any information on these units, age, sold door to door and model information. I've been looking online but cannot find to much. Thanks

WOW!

That is the first upright version of the Modern Hygiene I've ever seen, until now I've only seen tank models of that brand! It is almost identical to an Electro-Hygiene from the same era, which would be mid to late 30's or possibly as late as 1941, but definitely pre-war. The Royal is a bit older, going by the style of cord it has, but no earlier than 1928, as Royals before then had the bag outlet on the other side of the fan case, with the motor turning in the opposite direction.
Here is a pic of my Electro-Hygiene model 94, built about the same time as your Modern Hygiene, and one of the attachments that would have come with it. I was going to post one of my early Royal with the bag outlet on the other side but can't access it right now. Hope this helps.

It does thank you. I am going to try and tune it up and clean it. It runs quiet and there are no holes in the bag.y question is I have it down to the motor already how do I get that fan off on these?

Finished cleaning and polishing it

I gave it a sunday funday treatment. I took it down to the motor. Cleaned everything, wet sanded and buffed it,polished the chrome lubricated the motor bearings and cleaned the bag. It runs so smooth and really shines. I was thinking about selling it, as I have the other and I am not a real big royal collector. Any idea how much I should ask?

Gary,

I knew it would polish up beautifully! Glad to hear it is also running smooth! However, it's hard to set a price for it, and as they usually say here and in the other groups, it's only worth what someone is willing to pay you for it. On one hand, it's in great shape, all original, and rare, as I said I've never seen a Modern Hygiene upright before, only tanks. On the other hand, someone might look at it and say, "it's just a rebadged Royal." If it were me, I'd keep it, but if you really want to sell it, probably the best thing to do would be put it in an ebay auction and see where it goes.
To answer your question about fan removal, if you've ever removed a fan from a Kirby, it's pretty much the same process. You need to keep the shaft from moving while you turn the nut (and the fan) CLOCKWISE, as it has a reverse thread, and be very careful not to touch the windings or plates on the armature in the process. Usually I hold a screwdriver against the cooling fan to do this.

Selling ?

Very nice work ! If you are selling, I may be interested. I collect (mostly)
Ohio vacuums...that machine would fit nicely in my collection.

Thanks for restoring.
