Well now my Hoover deluxe has now had its motor written off!!!!
The gentleman who looked at it said that it had been very badly treated by someone not in the know to repair it.
The armature both ends was bent! The suction fan would wont come off the prop shaft and their were copper wires hanging out of the armature touching the sides as it rotated. The bottom fan was also out of line.
He said the best thing to do with it was to remove the motor completely as it was not economical to try and fix it. Some of the wires had a melted jelly like feel to them.
He also thought that it had been sat in rather wet damp conditions for a long time.
So now I am left with a 652 with no workings what so ever just a complete body with on off switch and rose cable.
I don't know what to do now as I am not qualified to know about electrics.
Will a later model senior fit this and just drop in complete.
I love the look of this machine so I don't know if I should sell it for spares or wait for a person to find a donor motor and wire it in for me.Its all rather a sad situation.I am most unhappy :-( as I have always wanted one of these.
Also the bearings were badly worn on it along with brush roll bearings.
What shall I do guy's i mean this has a great body and a rare bag!!!
