HELP my beloved Hoover Elite's in trouble!

My Hoover Elite from 1994 needed a fan replacement. I replaced it with no problem. But for some reason the motor still buzzes very loudly and I have no clue what to about the noise. I checked the fan once again and it was fine and didn't wobble or anything like that. What should I do?

Make sure you used a Genuine Hoover Fan , the cheap knock off ones are poorly balanced and vibrate like crazy.

Be sure you didn't tighten that fan too tight down onto the fancase, it sounds like the motor is frozen up. does the motor rotate freely?

Check the motor. I think the problem is the motor or motor brush.

The motor rotates freely. I decided to let the motor do most of the tightening as I used it. Should I try oiling the bearings?

What do you mean by that? that doesn't make much sense. you mean you were going to let the fan tighten itself as you ran the cleaner? that wouldn't have worked out well! did the cleaner even run at all? It wouldn't be the motor brush, the buzzing makes me think the motor is frozen.


 


Please, take the fan back off and see if the cleaner will run without it. if it does, than tighten the fan level, tighting until it is barely scraping the motor casing (Scraping is a defiant no-no).

A washer perhaps or did something fall into the motor and is jamming it?

Do what super-sweeper says I think he/she is right. And after that put enough amount of oil in bearing.

Do NOT EVER oil ball bearings. Ball bearings use grease. Either the new fan is bojack, or not tightened enough.

I like to believe a single drop of oil...

can revivify dried grease inside a bearing when you don't have time to do it the right way.
