Please help! I've come to the fountain of knowledge looking for a drink!!

Ok so here is my situation. I have a Legend 2 that must have been dropped before i got it because its a little bent. it works fine but I'm just looking for something else. I need something that has good filtration and will last at least 10 years, I have allergies and such. I have 3 options that I can think of.

1. I could get my legend 2 straightened out shined up and back to good. maybe let kirby do a rebuild but not sure how much that would cost. (do any of you know?) I could use hepa filter bags in it. this is probably my least favorite of the options but it it makes most sense i can live with it. I have a full set of attachments for it. so thats a plus.

2. get a newer generation series vacuums. I'd like a G6 or newer, a diamond edition would be my ultimate pick. this would give me the filtration I need and a long time before i have to buy a new one (though I'd probably still get a few and trade around here and there.) I've never used a G series but I've heard good things.

3. I know of a lightly used Classic 3 that is really want to get. I could use the emtor from my bent legend 2 with it until i could find a original conversion for it. (I like the look of the big shiny emtors :)) Now my concern with this is it is getting older and parts could be harder to come by. I love the look and feel of the classics. but would this be going too far back?

Please help!! I'm pretty new to the kirby world and want something that will last!

Unless your the orig owner of the kirby which it sounds like your not it will cost somewhere are $350 for them to do a rebuild. If anything I would say go with the diamond, the two speed switch is nice and all the generations are self propelled which makes them easier. But the generations can be a little clunkier than the non self propelled, but for my carpets and in general I prefer the generation series.

Another option is the get a d80 or 50 and attach a emtor from the legend for better filtration. Those models and older are light weight and easy to use. But the bag would not match unless you brought a matching bag to a tailor and had them put a zipper on it. Just my two cents.

What part of the Kirby is bent? It's most likely the nozzle, you can always buy another nozzle and pop it on! Your Legend II will provide WAY more than 10 years of reliable service, plus it should already be capable of taking the newer HEPA bags (if not, the conversion is VERY easy).

Don't be foolish, Parts are available all the way back to the 500 series! Belts and other parts will be available for decades to come (And if not, I'm going into the replacement parts business!). I actually used the Heritage I set-up on my Classic III last night (the F&G conversion kit blew it's zipper!). You can use the kit off your Heritage II, or purchase an F&G kit. the kit is not all that bad, I wonder if it can be converted for use with the modern ST bags (Replacement to the F&G series).

my 2c

I like the heritage-legend II style the best. I know the local shop does polish Kirbys for about 30-40 and they do a pretty wonderful job at it. So having a local shop do the polishing may be an option for you.

the motor housing is what is bent. Raising a lowering the light is stiffer than I've seen but it still pushes straight.

Either way i still may try to pick up the classic 3. I have a F&G conversion but i didn't like it much on my moms old vac. it seemed to kink at the bottom and it cut the suction down a lot when it was working.

if i was you i would

Look into a Hoover wintunnel self propelled. Mines been really good to me it has good suction good airflow is fun to use and really is a good clean air vacuum.
