Anybody heard anything or know when a new Kirby model is hitting? Seems like its been FOREVER! I know it seems like it's usually every three years or so. I'm curious to see what type of direction they head - if any at all. They usually always tweak something and go with a new color scheme at least.

It was supposed to come out this Summer, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen as Summer is almost over. I guess time will tell. :)

I wish they would come back out with the ACTUAL G Series design, instead of the Sentria. I do not like my Sentria because it just does not look like a Kirby. It's all plastic. Just no, t

The Sentria is no different from the other G series models. If you're talking about the handle, it's not much different from all of the other ones. It's a relativley thick piece of aluminum with a plastic backing and a solid plastic handle grip.

There is always the chance that it could be a bigger change than we have seen recently. We're coming up on the 20 year anniversary of the G series. They had major design changes in 1970, 1990, maybe 2010? My Diamond is my favorite cleaner ever so I am not hoping for a change, just wondering.

It's really hard to say. I agree that the G-series is starting to look pretty dated, however the Sentria saw more changes than any previous G-series machine. What I would really like to see (though I know it will never happen) is Kirby offering two uprights - one with TechDrive, and one without, having the original 12-inch nozzle. Maybe based on the Sanitronic, but with much better filtration. Their centennial is only 5 years away, and nothing would please me more than to see them launch their own "RetroVac." I'm in no rush for them to release a new model right now, however, as it will be another machine I'll have to add to collection ;-)

Yes, 2014 will be Kirbys' 100th birthday!! We are planning on having the VCCC convention in Cleveland that year in honor of it. It would be great if they really came out with something "retro" in honor of this event!!!

Watch them come out with a hard body bagless model (all plastic) that looks just like that thing that we see periodically that converts the current Kirby's to bagless. LOL

Ok. take some smelling salts and a few deep breaths and try to revive yourself. I was kidding and I'm certain that won't happen.

Since Kirby is the same company it always was during all the glory years (unlike Hoover being now with TTI) they do seem to be very respectful and proud of their heritage. I can see them being more likely to issue a model that is a tribute to the past while forging forward with technology and innovation. After all, what current vacuum is as similar to the models from many decades ago as Kirby?

I would love one that looks less like a side bagger lawn mower and allows that bag to shift to the left when turned on. But that would eliminate a way to carry it, so that probably won't be one of the features. Of course the bottom handle has always been the better way to carry it.

I would love to see a redo of the 560 [red color with gray bag etc and traditional attachments] with modern flitration, 2 speed motor and all the suction power and brush quality of the G series. For me, that would be a prize!!!

I always thought the 516 through 560 series was the most elegant and sharp looking Kirby. Somehow when you look at it it means business.

I'll so be going to that convention, Kirby is what started it all for me so they're near and dear to me. Plus 2014 is my high school graduation year!!!! :D

New Kirby Model

Being a major Kirby lover, expecially since I now have a
Scott and Fetzer from the mid 20-30's See Thread (see thread
Posted by Jeff Schaff for me on Aug. 16 th) Norm's new finds.
When we toured the Kirby plant last Aug. I asked the question
about making a new Kirby for Hard Surface floor cleaning. Since people are replacing room after room of carpet with new
laminate and hardwood. Our guide, said that "yes" that were making
plans to address that issue. It just amazes me that people advertise recent Kirbys (G series) for sale on Craigs list be-
cause they have all woods floors now and don't need a Kirby. Folish people !!
Just my thoughts and comments.
By the way if the person that took a picture of a possible future Kirby they saw at the factory (If they are still part of the club) please post it !!
Norm
