I just find that almost stupid because after three or four strokes on the carpet that little filter paper would be clogged and there would be little to no airflow and it would not clean very well at all thanks. Zach

It's funny, but, my dad used to do that too!! Only he used sheets of kitchen roll as the filter, never did work out how he managed to clean floors with his Kirbys...

I have his old dirt meter now, of course, haven't used it since I replaced the glass in it...

The Kirby dirtmeter or other vac dirtmeters are for DEMO only-not for daily driver cleaning.
