Browsing through the cylinder vacuums on Sebo.co.uk & read through the D2 range. Looks impressive & sounds great by the spec. Has anyone had one & can they share their experiences on it please?

Thanks! :D

I was just browsing on SECO.co.uk site myself! Was there a particular D2 you was looking at? I'm sure there is a few members on here that have used and/or owned a SEBO D Series to answer your question I bet! I know there is a few youtube video's on them as I've watched most of them, does look an impressive cylinder vacuum.

Well HiLO I own a SEBO D2.

I was also the first to own the prototype of the D2 in the UK (and still have it)

I also bought a D2 Total market version (the kind you can buy now) and use it as a weekly driver since it can go around most of the large home I'm in.

It's really more suited for those with larger homes where Miele's standard cylinder vacs run out of cable length and where owners perhaps feel fed up on shelling out for Miele's standard 4 dust bags. I find it far more convenient to use than the older C1 I have and the D2 is very powerful with 2100 watts as well as quite quiet.

In Germany series D1, D2, D3 and D4 are all sold as well as other markets but UK versions are far simpler and not as confusing. Germany offers 1600 watts as a low power option and there will probably be a lower power version before long with the EU law.

The problem with SEBOs D2 is that none are sold on the shop floor, so sampling one "in the flesh" before buying is difficult.

They're pretty good machines but if you don't need all that cable you'd be better off either with a K1 or a Miele IMHO.

Thats at the lowest which Miele also supply. They're quieter than modern Hoover models, put it that way.

Also one to throw in the mix is the Bosch BSGL5000 series but the tools/tubes and hose are all friction fit. It also has a long cord and is far more compact - but it has a shorter hose.

I like my Sebo D2 black Premium machine-love its long cord-the bag holds more than any other canister I have save the NSS M1 or my Nilfisk GS80.I don't like the Sebo dust brush-I use a Kirby dust brush-MUCH better! The Greenville Sew&Vac place here stocks the Sebo machines-They have a white D2 now.

Oh right - but I guess the Sebo is easier to travel due to the 4 castors on the bottom as opposed to fixed wheels on the Henry.

Well, yes and no - The wheels on Henry don't forget consist of two castors at the front and the fixed wheels at the back. The combination of castors and wheels allow for great movement as well more precise control of a tub design, don't forget.

The all castor wheel solution is great for hard floors but on carpets even Miele and SEBO vacs with castors ensures stability being a sledge design and thus in turn being able to store cleaning tools, auto rewind cable and a flatter design.

The only reason people are buying the SEBO D series is because of the nearly twice as much cable as the Miele, a fantastic filter system and of course the low running costs of the bag, the high power and the quality. The long hose is a standard feature on the entire range.

Because I have the majority of short wool loop carpet, I have to be careful, but currently I have the delicate floor brush roll installed in my old X1 Automatic and it picks up very well. I tend to use suction only floor heads a lot of the time for an all over clean but the X1's delicate brush roller makes closer impact onto my carpet without damage.

This is what I used for many years before owning a lot of different cylinder vacuums.
