Hi to all!!!! I just bought these vintage stand mixers on Saturday! I paid $17 for all and thought that was a steal of a deal!!! The Dormeyer is model 3000 and the Hamilton Beach is model E. I've wanted these particular models for a long time now and am so glad I have them! My questions are when did they come out/how long were they made? Really any info on them would be great!!! I don't know much about Dormeyer and know nothing about Hamilton Beach! BTW, they both work! Looks were deceiving on these mixers! Thanks! -Michelle

Michelle...

Your mixer finds a cool.I've seen only one other Dormeyer of that design. It was a green
color.I'd say, just guessing it maybe from the 30's or early 40's.
I have a all stainless Dormeyer with the bowls to match. They are wonder machines.Yes,mine is the new design;they never changed much after that.
Enjoy restoring them.

Dormeyer 3000 and Hamilton Beach model E

The first time I saw that Dormeyer mixer was on an episode of the Three Stooges. They had attached an ink pen in place the beaters (claimed the pen could even whip cream!). It was all staged to go 'haywire' throwing out whipped cream into the room in all directions. I had never seen a motor vertically configured in a mixer before. (Did not know about GE's early triple whip models yet) The Dormeyer mixer had 3 speeds using the tapped field method, lower speeds had less power. The motor was rated 85 to 100 watts Both the Dormeyer 3000 and the HB mod. E were made during the 1940s after WWII had ended. the HB mixer had 15 speeds marked and had a 120 watt governor controlled. One had to detach and flip the dormeyer mixer over and reattach to the stand to attach the juicer, the only accessory for this model. The HB mixer had an available potato peeler, juicer, power unit with it own stand to use the food chopper and slicer/shredder, there was also a pea sheller/cutter.

Thanks Michael for your input! I can't wait to make these babies look brand new! I'm actually going to bring both turn tables into work tomorrow and sandblast them! :) -Michelle
