Hello everyone, my father gave me a little card with patent numbers and the approximate date of the patent. I thought some of you might like to know when some or your old vacuums were patented. My dad got this from an auction company I believe. To use it find the largest patent number on the item and then compare it to the list. Enjoy!

Electrolux patents

Some very clever ideas here that were not always produced. Many ahead of their time as with--
--reply 3,photo 2-Having suction and blower from one hose connection was seen on a rare Singer canister from the 60s.
--reply 3,photo 9-10--Having an attachment 'built in' to the hose end was seen on one of the last deluxe Kenmore canisters.

You're welcome, Alex; glad to hear that.

Thanks for your background knowledge as always, Jimmy.

Electrolux Corporation - patent observations

I've noticed that most of the patent numbers listed on cleaners are for parts sometimes used on many different prior models.

The ones beginning with 'D' are design patents that are often reused for several models even though some changes have been made. For example according to the patent listings on the cleaners, the models E, E-A, S, R, and L (excluding the Model T's unique construction) have the same design patent as do the models 1205, 1205 50th Jubilee, and 1401. Even the models 1401-B and 1453 appear to share the same design patent as no design patent was listed on the 1453's cover.

Correspondingly, I have been unable to locate patents with images for the later feature variations such as the covers, switches, handles, et cetera; although I only perused patents with images.

In addition, no patent numbers at all have been listed on the bag doors of the plastic-bodied model 2100 variants (e.g. Hi-Tech 2100, L-E, Model 90, Ambassador, Epic 6500SR ... ), which may be due to the fact that the design originated in Canada. These would have required a US patent as I've noticed for other models, but apparently listing them on products is optional.

Electrolux Corporation - Models 1401-B, 1453, 1521, CB2000

Just located the Model 1453 patent. I had no idea that it was launched in 1981; I had always thought it was around the time of the Olympia One's debut. That may indicate that the Model L was marketed until that time, or that Electrolux had ended the budget model option for a time and then reinstated it.

Due to the upload limit, I've posted only a few representative images of the CB2000.

The wands, a separate patent, were likely used for both household and commercial cleaners.

I was unable to locate a patent for the L-shaped power nozzle itself.

Photos (note - at that time only the years the patents were granted were included on the image pages; production likely began during the filing years shown on the details pages included):

1-3. Olympia One model 1401-B (and Silverado Deluxe 1505)

4-6. Deluxe Special Model 1453 & cord winder

7-11. Model 1521 (Diamond Jubilee, Marquise, Grand Marquise, Legacy, Ultralux, Ultralux LX, Ultralux Classic)

12-16. Model CB 2000

17-19. Wand

20. Self-Cleaning Joint (elbow for PN5, PN6, PN7)

Alex and other Electrolux Corporation enthusiasts,

Here's the link to the Google patent search I've set up to search for Electrolux Corporation filed patents from 1933-1949. I've just been selecting ones I thought would be of the most interest, but you'd probably like to see them all.

Some features in these initial designs were not used in the final.

Mr. Ferraris would later invent the 1981 Deluxe Special Model casing design; perhaps his last for Electrolux.
