Hi guys! So glad to be a part of this site. Have spent many evenings browsing... what a great way to unwind! I also had the great chance to purchase a nib Hoover Elite from around 1994 yesterday from a mom n pop hardware store. Early Christmas present! It's simple with no frills, but I love it's sound and how it cleans my berbers! So excited!

Hoover Elite

Great find!It doesn't get any better than new in box. These were a good value in a standard upright. Also shows what may be left in some hardware stores as well as furniture stores and carpet dealers who carried vacs.
The pictures are a reminder as well as explanation for something we saw often in the early days of Elite. Many that came in for belts or service or as trade-ins had the cloth bag installed flat as packed(pic 5)and not properly folded(pic 8).This kept the paper bag from inflating to full capacity and caused Hoover to add the 'ATTENTION'flyer as seen on the owners manual. With the side zipper bag and hard case models it was much less likely to assemble improperly.
Happy Hoovering

Thanks for the comments. Yes, rugsucker, I had several attempts until I finally got the bag assembly put together properly! It kind of took me back that such an assembly would be required. I'm guessing there were many frustrated consumers at that point in putting the vac together lol. A few other things that struck me were the vac was made in the USA and the instrucion manual was 100% in the English language. My how things have changed. I love this vac and it has a safe home in my newly carpeted rec room where I'm sure to get plenty of service out of it and will keep it in pristine shape! Just waiting now for the HEPA bags to arrive.

Elite

I have had a vac like that forever. Nice, simple and powerful. It now resides at my x's house. Never bought the tool set, not fond of front connections.
