Great Day for thrifting!!!!

What a rough week!! I managed to get a day of thrifting done yesterday after a week of two jobs and having my Dad in the hospital. He's out now and at home doing well. And most of my papers are graded so i thought i needed a break. I went to the antique mall first and found this great green Osterizer blender with the cover. My next stop i hit pay dirt!! I found an Electolux XXX complete for $7.00!!!! It had an extra carpet nozzle in black that looks like it could belong to a Canadian machine. The hose is frayed on the outside but is intact on the inside. Great suction!!

The hoover tools go to the Model 67 Convertible. The was an owners manual in the box. Everything was there except the converter but i can use the one i have for my model 65. The tools and the caddy box were inside a larger Hoover box that they came in! How great is that! I was trying to keep it cool but i just wanted to scream like a girl upon finding all this! LOL!

Lastly I threw in a Kenmore hose and floor brush that were laying close by. I couldn't kind the Kenmore vacuum however. I almost raised my voice to the volunteer lady when she started making noises about not wanting to sell the kenmore hose without the vacuum. ( Not again!!! ) I politely ,through gritted teeth, explained that there was no Kenmore vacuum around. So she sold me the hose for a buck, Yay!

Wonderful vac, wonderful attachments! I dunno about that lowly Osterizer blender though, unless of course you needed it to complete the full lineup from bottom to top and that's just where I'd put it,, right on the bottom shelf, in a corner HAHAHA

Okay sort of.. Just kidding! So Pete, this was the BOL model. I guess with the plastic jar and all. I just remember these as being different from the beehives. In fact it was the first style Oster that wasn't a beehive that i saw growing up. The square base blenders showed up later for me.

Those were the so called BOL models, they came out roughly the same time as the squared version which repaced the beehive and usually but not always had a plastic jar instead of glass. Pricewise back in the 70's they cost about $10 - $15 dollars less than the square ones depending on the model of course. But you do need one for the lineup. I gave up on trying to get all the Osters, no other company on the planet ever output so many variations so frequently as they did. It's astonishing and darn near impossible.

Great Thrifting

So, it seems I was not the only one to have a great thrifting day. Very nice finds Marty. I love the Hoover attachments complete with carrying box. And the avacado osterizer is great too!

Marty, the black rug nozzle is American, and VERY rare! Those plastic nozzles were made during the War to preserve metal. I have them in black like yours, and also gray. You can also find upholstery nozzles and dusting brushes in plastic, also both black and gray. Nice, unusual find!

The silver one was probably purchased later as an after-market improvement, OR, the black one could be a leftover from an older machine. Who knows!!

Congrats on the 6500 tool set. The converter is very hard to find as it was not attached on this set. Too bad Hoover did not keep this idea so that unclogging the hose would be easier. The 6800 set that replaced it had a permanently attached hose with the same Ultraflex material. The 6500 and 3100 set used the same converter, and this converter was often broken through the course of everyday use. This is probably why it is missing. Unless the belt skipped off of the pulley which would "burn out" the converter in no time flat making it useless. The best part of all though is you have the carrying case AND the packing box. I think that you have a rare find there. Thanks for sharing it!

Congrats on the finds. I wish I had that kind of luck. I went thrifting after lunch yesterday. If only I had gone before lunch! When I was walking around the store I saw in a lady's cart a lux model L still in it's box! UUHHHGGG just a few minutes sooner. I guess I'll get over it. Someday.

6500 converter

Yea, I have this set with my senior 652 either hose end snaps onto the converter, but as Tom says, later version converter was permanently fixed to the hose end, however, this version did have a removable plate held in by 4 screws so you could get in to unblock.
