Got My Maytag M1200 Today!

So, my new Maytag M1200 came today and I just used it in two rooms I vacuumed two nights ago. I was quite surprised at how much dirt, dust and cat hair it got out of the carpet. My family room rarely gets used and has relatively new carpet. Not to mention, my cat passed away in 2014. The living room gets more use and it got a lot out of that carpet but again, I just vacuumed two days ago with my Sebo D4 Premium. We don't wear shoes in our house, there are no pets and no kids. I was really surprised how much came up.

Some first impressions. The vacuum is solid and pretty heavy. I am actually quite surprised how heavy it is. I would say it is nearly as heavy as the Kirby. One thing I noticed, it is difficult to push the vacuum on carpets unless the brush roll height is up pretty high - too high to really groom the carpet. It did hurt my back pushing it. Also, the bags are TINY. I laughed when I pulled the bag out. It is so small. Any smaller and it would fit in a handheld. This isn't really a problem for me because it means there will be less dirt and dust fermenting in my vacuum in between bag changes.

The height adjustment dial is difficult to turn and feels like it could fail. I put some salt in my carpet and it agitated it very well. It was bouncing quite high, just like the HSN demo. I am pleased it came with 12 bags and replacement filters. Most vacuums only come with one bag nowadays. I doubt I will use it on hard floors simply given a canister is easier for this. I haven't tried the tools yet but will provide my opinion when I do so.

Tilt the cleaner off the rear wheels when turning the height adjustment knob. It should be very easy to move then.

Those bags hold more than you think.

Wait until the full bag light comes on (there won't be a loss of suction - those are HEPA cloth bags) before you change the bag. It should feel like a full bag of sugar when it's time to come out.

The vacuum is heavy because there are TWO full size motors.

"Mark" the Tacony man visited the Greenville Sew&Vac place on Wednesday.He showed me the newer tandem air powernozzle with a Prima host canister vacuum.LOVED the rig.At this point the Maytag and the new canister setup will be on order for me.Again the bags in the Tacony tandem air machines look small-the system PACKS them tightly.The bag is a BRICK when it is full according to the vacuum's fill indicators.You will be surprised at what gets packed into that "tiny" bag!The weight of the machine is again two motors!!!The ones that I have are not that hard to push around.The brushroll helps a lot!Same with the new powernozzle.When I first tried it--HUNG ON-it wanted to take off like a dragster!the nozzle had the replaceable brushstrips and was metal.The machine Mark has is for demo only-he could not sell it.Mike fixed a squeaky front wheel on the canister machine.All in all a VERY nice setup!!Tacony is the specialist in regards tandem air machines!On the tandem air upright-when I took is full brick bag out of the machine--dumpted out the dirt it collected and picked it up in my Kirby Sentria 2---the bag in that was FULL!!!!!Past the fill mark.

I think the new Tandem-Air power nozzle for the Prima is the most awesome power nozzle I've ever used. That thing takes OFF, and really is super easy to push. It beats the holy hell out of the carpet, making every speck of sand jump to the surface. I believe it will change canister vacuums as we know it. The factory in St. James is so excited - they are gearing up to begin production June 6. They've been doing a lot of testing on the individual components of the new Tandem-Air nozzle - my friend Brenda in Quality Control was feeding rolls and rolls of quarters into a rig which shot them directly into the running fan blades of the new nozzle's motor. Ever seen a bent quarter? I hadn't until I saw it with my own eyes. There's a good distance between the new fan's blades - allowing debris like cereal to pass between the blades when the motor is OFF for bare floor cleaning - without getting hung up on the blades. I cannot wait to show the Vacuum Collectors at the Convention in June. The best part is that the collectors can get to see them being made, as well as see them in the Testing Labs going through their life and cleaning ability testing stages.

Any plans to update the TOL Tacony canisters with the Tandem Air power nozzles? I like the controls of the Moxie.....now combine that with the new nozzles and you really would have a winner.

Actually, any plans to update or replace the TOL canisters? Hasn't their design been around over a decade. I think with an update these could be world beaters.

When I tried the tandem air canister-it was VERY quiet!!!So now I know when a target date will be-going to have Mike put in my order.Not to long from now.Yes,this innovation will make a lot of changes for canister vacuums.The powernozzle as we know it is going to change!!!This means Monster vacuums for EVRERYBODY without having to conjure them up!

Power Nozzles

I think dirty air power nozzles for canisters is an awesome idea. Cansiters don't have the air flow of a lot of uprights which means they don't clean as well. I prefer switching between canisters and uprights as I get bored with the same old thing. However, my SEBO D4 Premium just doesn't clean carpets as well as the Maytag. In terms or canisters, it is one of the best, but it really is limited unless one has very low pile carpet.
