Hi guys, just got given this. They said it was just dead one day, and they changed the fuse but still nothing. Well, I just replaced the cable and now it runs beautifully! It has all the tools but the filters need changing, like with all dc01's lol! Other than that its in great shape, unusually the sole plate is fully intact! It needs a clean up though, will do that later. Here she is:

Yes, Dyson had too many blue bits left over after the campaign ended. Hence a the DC01 grey & blue sold next to the grey & yellow model.

That is why dysons die soon

Because people never even think to wash the filters and therefore propper airflow can't be reached so it overheats the motor and in time burns out. Having said that the DC01's were and are very reliable, well they were British made!

Dysondesijl....

It is more of a problem on the new ones, plus they probably over heat anyway because of all the tight corners and tight cyclones the air has to be forced though, I bet it puts strain on the motor.

Yes Alex I agree. I had a DC14 once that kept clogging itself. It was the worst dyson I have ever used!!! Also I bet it you used a DC24 or a DC50 with a clogged filter then it wouldn't last long, as I bet the motors must be really small to fit into such a small vacuum!

I gave it to my Grandma's friend, she has more vacs then me!!! she uses them with care though :) I might buy a DC04 for her and swap the DC01 back :D

OMG parwaz you said u were looking for one if those for ages! Oh well I think you should do whatever you can to get the DC01 back!! Also how come she has so many vacs?

I am not sure lol but she had them since she bought the house, she is old now and can hardly carry a vacuum upstairs. her husband has to do it and he is still active at an old age :) they used to have a DC07 standard I gave. after 2 uses the battered Dc07 with broken soleplate etc had got full! even with dirty filters. I swapped it for dc01 destijl. the Dc07 was old (2001 model with square plug) it came back with a broken body (the biit that you slide in the wand) that was cracked slightly when I got it, but they held it together with tape.
The Dc01 is durable for them, however the belts keep snapping, and the cradle broke once too.The Dc07 has gone now, I got this better 2001 Dc07 in a cleaner and looked after condition with a circle plug! :D
