How else does an alien emissary of peace keep his interstellar saucer all shiny?
But I'm getting ahead of the story....
First off, the new windshield wipers I had installed when I last had my windows treated with Aquapel began to chatter something awful during the rain the past 3 days. They are the kind that have the rubber strip bonded to a single flat steel band, rather than the usual multi-link support arms. It became obvious that the makers of these new blade have a problem on their hands with all the 'recommendations' they provide to fix the chatter. Such as "run the wipers only with washer fluid on the window! So anyway, the Glass Shop gave me a pair of new old-fashioned blades and suggested I try the new blades come this winter. Huge apologies. I am a 10 year customer and like the Aquapel treatment very much. Better than the stuff you apply yourself, it causes any water to bead up real tiny and run off like lemmings to the sea and lasts 6 months. I have all windows and the sunroof treated twice a year.
I then popped in to the Sally Ann right next door. As I entered a nice couple my age were coming to the register with a beautiful TriStar CXL in silver mottle with the PN, hose and all the tools. For $15!
Naturally I exclaimed something like "Arghhh, missed it by minutes". Conversation about vacuum cleaners ensued. The fellow and his wife run a business cleaning office and factory buildings in the area. They favour heavy duty vacuums - uprights and canisters - kept on site for this and so keep on the lookout for robust suitable vacuums.
Well, this CXL also had one of those Warthog/Skylon Tower afterfilters hanging off the back. I explained how this was the wrong filter for this machine and what he needed was the samller screw-on type. He agreed that the warthog would be easily broken off if it contacted any vertical surface as they cleaned around desks and such and looked stupid as well as vulnerable canted off the back of the Tristar. I knew I had a spare small one and asked if we could finagle an exchange. They lived on a quiet street and after a fast trip home and cellphone exchanges, 30 minutes later the trade took place.
Here's the pristine, never been used looks like clean as a whistle and not a single scratch TriStar with the tag still on it!
