Not much today... the only thing I even considered was the Hoover Flair, but I just didn't think it was worth 30 bucks. Way overpriced.... I would have paid half that for a used one, but not 30! I've gotten full sized vacs for less than half that at the same Good Will, but they are trying to rape people with prices now because they've become so popular due to the economy. I really wanted it, but not 30 dollars worth! They had some nice shoes in my size, but they stayed right here too because they were 50 dollars. I just don't understand.... they get the stuff for free and try to charge all that for it!

The Hoover bagged Windtunnel was in pretty good shape... the Oreck companion canister had all the attachments... the Kenmore looked pretty beat up.... Slim pickings. I got excited when I saw the Flair until I saw the price. They aren't that rare and I'm sure one will pop up on C/L one day for a more appropriate price.... but it was disappointing, because they never have anything I want, so the one time they do it was overpriced. I picked it up and it was very heavy... felt solid and the handle was comfortable. Shame! I think I'm done with Good Will.... going there is just a waste of time....

Anyone or anywhere that takes in donations and then sells them for severely inflated prices is doing themselves a disservice, that G3 of mine I'm selling, I got that for free, put £20 into it for the power switch, and I'm only asking for the £20 back (plus £15 P&P) that I put in, but places that behave like this Goodwill, well, that's just despicable, people are living in tight times, and when places like that which a lot of people are relying on jack up the prices, then they're no better than the people in power who caused the tight times in the first place... :&#92

At least you guys get to buy used electricals in stores like that, here charity shops have to pay to have such things tested (European laws apparently) to make sure they're safe to sell, so they decided that they won't take such things and instead they BUY IN new stuff... :S

And I don't mean new quality goods, but new cheap chinese junk (be it a toaster or TV, fridge or dishwasher, even DVD players & HiFis) and sell them for the same prices and regular name-brand stuff, it's just stupid, and straying away from the principles on which they started up on, taking in unwanted articles and selling them at cheap prices to raise funds for charity, but now, it's all too commercial, the days of the used bargain are fading fast...

Mike & I picked up a Kirby G4 w/ shampooer, zip brush, Turbo Accessory Kit (sander) and base attachments at a Salvation Army for $40 this past Friday. It even has the original boxes! I'm hoping to get it cleaned up for resale this week.

Wow your good will is CHEAP compared to mine! Mine wants $200 for a RUSTY pre-g Kirby Vacuum or $50 for a bagless Bissell plastivac FULL OF DIRT and a slightly moldy filter!

They had a rusty Heritage 2 with torn bag and no attachments for 299.... That was when I was sure they were smoking something strong! I did write them and tell them that they lost me as a customer because of their greed...... their response was that they are not in business to provide good deals..... they exist to get the best price possible for the junk they sell! Of course I'm paraphrasing, they didn't actually use the word junk. I almost fainted. Somehow, I don't think that alienating customers with riduculous prices is the best business strategy!

They ARE in the business of raising money for charity....

and, if they can get that kind of money for "junk, more power to them although, I suspect merchandise with prices that high will sit there unsold for a long time.  It all comes down to how much people are willing to pay for something they want.
