wow, that's awesome

Are all of these canisters? Wonder what beam model that is, and you got an Ultra One? That's a great machine, very quiet and powerful. I wonder if the ultra one will no longer be made by Electrolux now, or if that wasn't part of the Eureka sale. And you got a trilobite? That was one of the first vacuum robots, it was out before the Roomba and they were not sold in the United States for very long. I would love to hear more about the princess, wasn't she a canister? Was she a straight suction cleaner or can she drive a power nozzle? Sounds like you got some great new canisters, I love canister vacuums.

Mike:
Most of the prototypes and 'mock up' machines are canisters. All really. And the Beam is a Canadian model. The only uprights I got were vintage ones, and one Electrolux Tri-Vac - in yellow to match the Electrolux Super J.

Those are some great machines, Tom!
And I'm another note, if that Beam has a Hanging Filter, it's a Maintenance heavy machine. The filter clogs really easily. In have one here in the house. I can get maybe 30-50 inches of waterlift out of it. Owen and I have talked about replacing it.

beam vacuum

I have a beam unit here, it's in the classic series, the 275C, it came as a bagless unit with one of those filters, despite what the manufacturer claims, those filters do not clean themselves very well and emptying them is a mess, especially when it's not hung on the wall but just standing on the floor, all of my central units stand on the floor since I use them without pipes. Fortunately an adapter is available that converts these to use bags, and that's what I did, much better, no dirty filter and no bucket to empty. Tom, I am drooling over those canisters. Since Electrolux sold Eureka, kind of makes me wonder if Electrolux is pulling out of the vacuum market completely the way Panasonic did, or if they plan to continue making the higher end models such as the Ultra One. Also wondering what will happen to the Sanitaire brand now, I really like the Sanitaire backpacks. It would be kind of sad if the Ultra One's were discontinued, while I don't like the nonstandard hose end, that is easily solved with an adapter, other than that, they are quiet, powerful and clean very well. Hmmmmm, have not had that machine out for a while, I may have to do something about that.

The Beam is a single motor unit. My Vacuflo is a dual motor unit. I don't think I'll be replacing my Vacuflo - ever. But, since the Beam was sent for display at the Museum, it will be displayed for the world to enjoy.
