Hello, I have two gold plated/colored kirbys in my collection -a G5 and an Ultimate G with gold coloring. Does anyone know how to polish or clean, or if it's ok to polish these kirbys without removing or damaging the gold color? Are there other people out there with gold plated/colored kirbys, I'd be great to see pictures. Thanks!!

If I were you, I'd get a "Sunshine Cloth," a yellow polish cloth meant for jewelry. What ever you do, DON'T polish too hard! I am guessing it is a thin plate (electroplating is only a few atoms thick!) and it will likely come off if you aren't careful! I would only polish it when it REALLY needs it.

If you just want to clean it, Windex should be just fine.

Good luck!

Thank you. I'll try that out. Someone in the Kirby Group on Yahoo informed me that the coloring might also be anodized? Will the anodized color rub off if polished or tarnish? Thanks to anyone who has any ideas.

Anodizing is pretty durable. I'd think you could clean/polish that a little more vigorously. Good luck!
