Goblin vacuum cleaners at Asda

Nice!
Chris, if you want a powerful hand vacuum, I recommend the Electrolux Z61A. There are now black and red ones made by another company I forgot the name of. They are 700W with very good suction and a motorised brushbar. Hs a stretch hose with a crevice tool on board. Not to mention a very long cord for a handheld vacuum

"Why would you have to hunt for any other cleaner, Chris, when you have SEBO"

I don't for my house. I want something inexpensive for cleaning the car with. Uprights aren't ideal for car cleaning and I don't want to scratch the Miele to bits using it outside. Henry would be better, but too expensive just for the car.

Tayyab, I did look at those, but they seem a bit big and clunky. The hose seemed quite short too. I do have a Dirt Devil Handy but the hose suction is..well..non-existent. Whilst it's great for stairs, not so great for cleaning the car.

I might just have to bite the bullet and get a £20 crappy thing from Poundstretcher. It'll do for the car, if nothing else.

"Um, because like all of us, Chris is also a collector of vacuums."

LOL, ya know, Nar, it's not even that. I'd quite like to have something easy and quick to use to encourage hubby to clean his damn car once in a while, the filthy beggar! He's worse than Alex with his filthy sofa, but that's another story.

Chris, I wouldn't recommend any vacuum from Poundstretcher, one of the staff there told me they get returned all the time because they burn out within a week.

Ive had vacs from Poundstretcher before - they don't burn out within a week. Infact some of the ones I've bought from PS stores have lasted quite a few years. It all comes down to average Joe and maintenance.

Which not a lot of UK buyers know how to do, sadly.

New upright added to the line

There is a new Goblin branded upright now available at Asda priced at £40 at the moment, but that is a promotional price and will probably go up. Has taken some design stylings from the Hoover Globe, but is single cyclonic and is a lot lighter and smaller judging by the box.

Looks like it has a clip on hard floor adaptor like some of the recent Vax uprights and the energy label is on par with many of the uprights at the cheaper end of the market.

Sorry about the poor quality of the photos, I took them on my iPod touch.

It also swivels. Now.. where have I seen a vacuum like that before that swivels and has its filter grid above the floor head / under the bin?

Hoover's Slalom and later Globe models. One can only begin to wonder if they all come from the same factory despite the change of brand name. Not exactly the same, but same arrangement where that filter is concerned.

These don't look overly impressive to be honest.

Someone on the facebook group has just bought one and it looks pretty cheap. The only dusting tool included with it is one of those crappy crevice tools with the bristles on the end that Dirt Devil and Goblin compact cylinders used to come with.

Despite them possibly being a bit naff, it's certainly nice to see the classic Goblin name reappearing.

Im surprised Goblin and others haven't spotted a gap in the market - if there are bags still available to buy that buyers are buying, Goblin, MR and who ever else should at least be able to offer cheap priced bagged cylinder vacs with an ounce of updated quality and floor tools.
