Goblin Scoot - does anyone have one?

Does anyone have a Goblin Scoot that they don't need or want? I would like one please!

I could swap for a Goblin Rio 800, or loads of different Dyson parts for a DCO5.

HI.

Any particular reason? They're not easy to find and its a pity TJ Hughes went into liquidation last year - they were the only high street franchise who sold them up until 2010. Try Gumtree. Only model I ever kept was the old Topo (had a similar copy handle to the hose like SEBO's canisters). Morphy Richards brought out a model under their own name last year in the catalogue brands, the 73178 (light blue)

Argos also have a similar model on sale to the Topo and 73178 under the name of "Morphy Richards Essentials Bagged Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner." product code 406/7719

I have a Goblin branded one of those in the picture above, but don't often see it as it is kept at our caravan for when whe go there in the summer. It is in extremely good condition and has the original box.

I would like to own a Scoot as they appeared in an old Argos catalouge I have somewhere at my grandads, dated from around 2001. They looked so funky and cool, same with the Morphy Richards Pod.

Well, good luck finding a Scoot. I don't think I've ever seen them on EBAY. I don't think they last very long as the bin assembly is fragile and the plastics are also just as thin. I nearly bought one at the end of the 1990s but by then I was hooked into Hoover products and only took to the Topo because of its size, instead of buying the U.S based Microspace Hoover cylinder which the UK sold for a limited time.

The one that surpasses ALL of the Goblin vacuums is the Morphy Richards Premiair models. They're made in Germany and with a greater amount of plastic quality. I don't know why they are made in Germany but MR have been selling this model for years under different guises. They do last a long time and they're one of the company's best kept secrets. Model 70044.

My sister had a Goblin Scoot for about 5 or 6 years. It was dark blue, 1600w with metal extension tubes. It was a nifty little vacuum and very powerful from what I remember, but as already stated, it was awfully flimsy and by the end of it's life, it was celotaped up so much, you could barely make out what it was. I've not seen one in years, although I would quite like to get my hands on one. As cheap and as naff as Goblin were, they're still pretty interesting vacs. I have a 1300w Aztec from the same series as the Scoot's made with the same clear plastic.

Jacob, any chance you could scan those old 2001 Argos pages in?

Yes, Goblin weren't too best in reliability!!!

I will try to, will bring all three of them home next time I visit my grandparents.

Our local Co-Op grocery store sold the model before the Premiar, as an end of line deal, back in 1999. They cost all of £39.99 and had a THREE year guarantee on them. I couldn't believe it. I bought five. Sold them all for £69.99 over the year which followed and never got a single one back.

Thats the link, bit expensive but worth it if you really want it, hope you have a look at my thread with a few vacs for sale.

The £24-99 asking price isn't bad actually - but when factoring the £10 extra postage charge on top, you may as well consider the Argos one brand new at £44 (product code 406/7719) which comes with metal extension pipes instead of the plastic and probably the same washable dust bag I got when I got my old Topo.

Of course I entirely understand if it's a matter of collecting the machine off Ebay if you want the name alone and the collecting hobby of an original model. But, also consider the fact that the Topo uses 3.2mm size tools so you could just use any old metal Hoover, 'Lux or Vax canister suction pipes you have lying around.
