Getting ready for the "HOLIDAY CLEANING"

VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

My line up.  The only thing missing is my buckets and sponge.  The bigmouth shop vacuum is in the master bedroom since today we started replacing the sub-flooring. I'll use pretty much all of this!!! I'm starting Monday.  Hopefully tomorrow we will have the new sub-flooring down and our new bed.  That's been out big project this week.

Beautiful 63 there!

But, then, is there any such thing as an UGLY 63? Not really.
It seems like a lot of people like that Murphy's Oil.I used to use it in the church. Somebody walked in and said, "Wow, this place smells so nice". It does agreat job on natural woodwork. Every inch of woodword here had benn painted over and ruined. I undid all of that, except for one last bedroom. "Coming in the Spring of 2015". {sounds like a movie preview}

Last thanksgiving I cleaned my house spotless because my family was coming and the very last thing I had to do is run the vacuum so I pulled out my 1971 hoover convertible and started vacuuming and after a few minute of vacuuming the bag exploded and boy did I have dust everywhere. I guess that's what happens when I use generic "C" bags from the early 80's

John, every HOOVER in my house is treated to only the FINEST genuine HOOVER bags, my favorite is Genuine Hoover Allergen, that bag can compete with some of these new-fangled synthetic bags!

Lionkcommander, LOL I run generic F&G bags from the 80s in my one of my Eurekas!

My arsenal is everchanging. I'm always trying different chemicals. Pledge is my wood dusting spray. Many times it is the blue Multi- Surface trigger spray and other times it is the Extra Moisturizing. Glass Plus or a flavored Disinfecting Windex for mirrors, glass and other things. Lysol Cling for toilet bowls, Armstrong Floor Cleaner, Mr. Clean Gain Berry scent for random things. Disinfecting sprays are everchanging. Mr. Clean Professional Bathroom Disinfectant line is the best but it is discontinued. Tilex Disinfecting Bathroom Cleaner and Lysol Disinfecting cleaners are good. Lysol keeps changing their scent though and some formulas don't work as well as others. Like the Berry one was very good and so was orange. The Lysol Lemon has been inconsistent. I can't do much of anything with Lavendar and avoid Lavendar or flowery scents. Bon Ami has been a help lately for oven, stove and other miscellaneous things-- Thanks John!!!

I'm a sponge mop person all the way!!! I can wash floors hands and knee but prefer a Mop so much more!!! So many more places I'm willing to stuff and squeeze the mop into rather than my fingers with or with out gloves on!! Also better on my knees to stand up and mop rather than be down on all fours! The Quickie Automatic Wringer mop has been in use in my household every since I can remember!

Vacuum cleaner wise most often it is a Hoover PowerMax or Hoover Windtunnel canister for a deep cleaner and quick spots on bare floors since brush roll can be turned off. But the Hoover Celebrity II Elite runs QUITE often as a daily driver.

For Air Cleaning we have a Rexair Rainmate and Rainbow E2 that run 24/7/365 cleaning our air. The Rainbow does quite well with spills, dog accidents as well or every once in a while we put power nozzle on it and do carpets.

Carpet shampooing is our Hoover SteamVac Widepath!

WE were always "hands and knees" people here.

"Mummy" would never allow us to use a mop. But, tons of people do. I felt a little funny buying even a steam mop (HOOVER, of course). She also used to paste wax the hardwood floors on here hands and knees, follwed by a HOOVER polisher. Now that the floors have all been refinshed, there really is no need to do any of that anymore.
But, if I want to.....................I can.
