It looks like there should be at least 10 people here this weekend for our mega meet. Sam Addison (Florida) will even be here! There are some cleaners here from the convention that will be going back with him. I'm sure a fun time will be had by all. It'll be nice to share nice fellowship with some great people again in this old place. I've been under unbearable stress lately. This will be a nice, welcomed diversion, I'm sure.
I just returned from my niece's wedding last Sat in Virginia Ggeorgetown)...was stunning. A bit behind (as usual), but I'll pull the place together once more. There are a few surprises in store. as well as a nice home cooked dinner.(I've lost 10 lbs, thank God) There won't be a cooked "ham" anywhere, however. An all-Italian dinner in an all Irish house. Stay tuned.

Cars packed

3 machines for Matt:
Kirby G4
Electrolux Silverado
Kenmore Dual speed upright

2 of my fun machines:
Hoover Windtunnel canister
Hoover Celebrity II Elite
May put something else in the morning too??? Any suggestions anyone of my Hoover canister list or Hoover Convertible or Eureka Rotomatic???

Work machines:
FilterQueen Majestic M11NA
FilterQueen Defender D11NA

Not sure where and when I'm arriving first. Gotta find a food store and pick up some treats too!! Trick or Treat!!

Looking forward to a great Italian feast of pasta, garlic bread, the works!!!

Possibilities to go if I can fit one of these in the car.

Actually the 2 complete machines of the power heads on either end are in the Subaru now. So it would possibilities of suction units from one of the 5 power nozzles in the middle!

I am looking forward to going as well, not too sure yet if chris is going but I do know joel and I plan on coming down. I cannot wait to see you all again!!!! oh and btw I do not think any of the hoovers are coming this time as they are packed in storage however there are a couple of machines that will make it there. my simplicity Synergy that I just repaired will be coming and I think I have a Super J coming as well that I have yet to finish restoring, and if feeling up to it I may bring the Filter queen which has been cleaned out for rob to play with :)

all done in good fun. Dinner was great. There are 10 of us here, a reak "mega meet". People are running vacuums EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There won't be a cat hair anywhere... until tomorrow. More pic will fiollow. Rob, 'Zippy" is doing his demo for Mark. Yikes!!!! Arthur and Murphy are still upstairs... Tey'll be down to see their uncles a bit later.

Well, the last ones left at 3:30 AM!!

Bill is staying over. Glad he's not afraid. It was hectic and fun. Many cleear dwellers have left the house.. The verb here is 'subtract'!!!!!!!!!
It was great to see eveyone. Sam mad a "Jewish" apple sauce cake. During the meet, Sam Geresti called as well as the 3rd from Greene , NY. So, there were 10 in attendance, plus 2 via phone, a total of 12! That's a lot of people. More photos will follow soon.

after dinner

we had a little fun with machines, all different types strewn about the house, Sam Addison brought a wonderful citation 64 that needed to be serviced. sadly we forgot our tools for servicing machines but he was well educated on how to get to the bearings that needed attention.

rob shore introduced us to the brand new Filter queen and the all new Filter Queen Defender air purifier. we were quite impressed with the amount of dirt it picked up off of a freshly vacuumed floor. however when we took joe kassocks shark rotator out to play we happened to fill the bin 3 times with johns new dining room carpet fibers. he did mention that the rug had not been vacuumed much. don't you just love the shedding of a brand new carpet?!?! well anyway we wanted to test out the capability of the filter queen so 3 LARGE bins full of nap and fibers were dumped out on to the hoover rug and rubbed in. the filter queen quickly picked it all up and did not even break a sweat!

after some machine play we all sat down for a lovely desert, john made homemade chocolate cake with a recipe that has been in his family for generations, and Sam Addison made the apple cake 100% from scratch, all was extremely delicious!

Oh How I Wish.............

.......... we had been able to be there. Recent surgeries have left us both unable to endure a 6 hour car trip. It looks as though all had a great time, a sure bet at John's house!

Kevin and I are hoping for good weather and healing by December. I am walking quite well now and "enduring" physical therapy. There was so much damage done to my leg and the therapy is extremely painful. But - no pain, no gain --- or so they tell me when it seems unbearable.

Leaving for some R & R time in Florida tonight. Hope the plane ride is not too painful! Got a direct flight so that should help. Kevin will come down on 11/11 and stay until the 22nd. I come home on the 14th. Care for the dog limits the amount of time we can be away from home together.

Best wishes to all and keep the pictures coming!

Glad you all had fun, which it looks like you did. John is a wonderful cook and host. Sorry I wasn't there. Best wishes to Greg and Kevin, too, and may you both have continued quick healing.

John L(ucia), not L(ong)....

John,

I wish I lived closer, it looks like you throw a great party!

When it comes to decorating, I am not creative. I would have never thought to use a Hoover Hood as a serving container.

It is amazing how much dirt that Filter Queen could find in a Hoover Household....scratching my head....perhaps....well......I won't pick on John tonight...LOL

Don't pick on John!

A great time was enjoyed by all. John's Hoovers do a great job of taking care of the house. He has a lot of wool carpets in the house, and delicate oriental rugs aren't supposed to get done by a machine with height set all of the way down or an agitator brush with stiff bristles. The Dyson and the Shark have very stiff bristles which are more aggressive than is really meant for that style rug.

When my parents bought oriental rugs years ago we were told to only clean them with suction only. We used to leave the power nozzles unplugged whenever doing rugs. However, sometimes with animals that task gets hard. We'd occasionally plug in the power nozzle on the canister but push it VERY fast just one pass over the rug so that the brush was just barely sitting on any particular spot for any near length of time.

As the Dyson and Shark dirt cups kept filling up with carpet fuzz-- as that's primarily what that was, it was dumped on a Hoover mat and then we played around with the bagless machines, cleaning that up and dumping back down again. FilterQueen kicked butt by being able to pick it all up, hold it all, and not clog or lose any power doing so! Yay, FilterQueen Majestic.

I'm off to bed now. However on one last note:

Congratulations and welcome to the FilterQueen Family Mark and JT! I know you'll thoroughly enjoy your brand new Majestic that we were able to get you a fantastic deal on!

Well,

While I was preparing for the gathering, I eased up on the vacuuming as I realized cleaners would be running all weekend. The wool Chinese rug in the dinning room is only 2 yrs old. It molts every time it's cleaned. The red Karastan rug is 40 yrs old and still sheds, as do the others. When I saw the fibers, I thought the rugs would all be bald when they were all done. FEAR NOT!!!! Every rug on the first floor was thoroughly vacuumed with the proper equipment later..HOOVERS Pics will follow soon.
It was nice the see many cellar dwellers leave the place as well. As the prostitute said to the Navy, "There's more where that came from".
Thanks, again for the Halloween treats, and the Jewish apple cake and the crystal cake plate. Know that you're all welcome here anytime.
Matt, (NYC Writer) pleas try to come around Christmas, when Kevin and Greg can make it. Thanks again to everyone. Pics to follow tonight. [this post was last edited: 10/29/2013-14:00]
