Getting an 80s Eureka Soon

My grandfather called me yesterday at our favorite thrift store and said their was a vintage Eureka there. He says "The color is pretty close to raspberry" and the model number is 1903. I told him to get it and will deviling it today. What could this be?! I've never seen a Eureka model number like that; it always seems to be 19-number-number, not 19-0-number. He says the hood says High Performance 5amp Motor. I've only seen white hoods with this sticker. I've haven't gotten a vintage vacuum in months, so this is exciting. I will post a picture and more information when it arrives in about a half hour.

My Poor Eureka!

So the vacuum came. I turn it on and it makes this weird click noise and then sounds normal. I thought it was the brush-roll. I take off the cover and the brush-roll end caps come off. I try again and the same noise happens. Well maybe the bag is restricting airflow. I unzip the bag and find a stuffed hard bag with black dots on it. It looks like this was in a flood. But it get worse. I take off the motor cover and the motor is rusted! Ohhh! I was looking forward to the 5amp motor. I like the motor's hum. Poor Eureka.

My grandfather says he can re-dotnate it or ask you guys if you want any of the parts. The hood is in reasonable shape and the handle is almost perfect. The base seems to be fine. Anyone needs one of these?

Looks like a new addition is still to be found.

As for the brushroll, there's plenty of those going round on ebay, generics and genuines of course...

It looks like it should be a nice machine after a good cleaning. It wouldn't work on the motor cover, but a good soak in some Evapo-Rust following by a bit of rubbing with some coarse steel wool is a good way to bring rusted parts back to life.
