Miele change this from time to time. Last I heard or I should say received, since they sent me an email ad, Miele UK were charging £30 to £35 extra to take on the 10 year guarantee. Lucky if in Canada, it applies to all free of charge - I'd certainly take up the guarantee offer whether I'd use it or not - but to have to pay for the added guarantee in the UK where Miele offer this plus the fact that some of their machines have been specially priced to include the 10 year guarantee as standard, it's an obvious incentive to buy that particular model. Miele should however be able to offer it right across the range, free of charge - it's not as if they don't have the money.

I got 5 years warranty when I bought my Miele washing machine 3 years ago. Under the current 10 year offer (and after several telephone calls and e-mails between myself and Miele) I managed to squeeze an additional 5 years out of then, extending my guarantee to a full 10 years.
