Found two uprights recently side by side at the curb, a Hoover Concept One U3101 and a General Electric P4U7.

Plenty of info available on the Concept One, so no real need to post about it, as belts and bags are readily available, but the General Electric is a different story.

Does anyone have any info about this one?
Cast into the metal on the bottom is: CAT NO. P4U7, and ink stamped next to that are the characters 380Z

My research says that this is a pre-1972 model, and GE discontinued selling vacs, and then this model was sold by Premiere Electric.

Any info would be appreciated, especially need to know what kind of belt to pop in there in order to get the brushroll going again.

It is very similar to the one in this video:

For the General Electric, you can use Eureka style F&G upright bags (which are the exact same design as the original GE upright bags) and Eureka style RD upright belts.

Thanks For The Info

Yes, it looks like the Eureka style F&G upright bag will fit, and it looks like the Hoover style C bag can also be used.
I'm going to try the belts in my flat belt collection and see if I can get a good fit.

Good to know.

I did not know that.. The royal belt is more common and easier to find. Some generic Hoover belts say G.E. on the package. So it's basically a royal/dirtdevil 4/5 style belt.

THANK YOU!

Thank You for the belt info. I appreciate the replies.

I pass by a Home Depot every morning on the way to work, and they carry the DirtDevil 4/5 belt.

Kloveland, Yes! My vacuum looks just like that one in your pic!

I got the Belt!

I bought the Dirt Devil 4/5 belt at Home Depot.

On the back of the bag it is written Distributed by Hoover,Inc., even has the Hoover.com url on the bag, but zero mention that it fits any Hoover products, only Dirt Devil models.

Seems to me like they are doing themselves a disservice by not listing the multitude of models that this belt would fit.

I would suspect, and even expect that such a listing would increase the sales of the belts to consumers.
