General Electric Model R 1 ROLL-EASY!!

Pete, no one EVER had too many Roll-Easys! Yours is right around the corner. I have wanted one ever since I saw Charles~Richard's Roll-Easy section in his site!

I paid $3.59 for my Shark sweeper, at GoodWill. I love mine, but it could use a beauty treatment and a de-tangle job. I have never seen new ones in US for less than $59.95. What kind of liquidation place do you have? We have Big Lots.

That is odd wear pattern; the bristles are clearly ground down and broken. I wonder just what surface someone was using that brush on?

Thanks for being on the lookout for me, Alan. I have copper wands. Its the GE hose ends I need, even if they are chrome. If it has a hose joining them, that's a bonus. LOL

Much of the time that accesories and vac cases have white or yellowish marks on them its simply baseboard paint transfer that cleans off very nicely with a firm rub. Its amazing how much black & gray gunk builds up on tool's rubber bump strips, too.

Sorry for being a bit neglectful as of yet, Alan (i'm sowwy :P) but good call on the new (older ;p) Roll Easy :) that one looks to be in even better condition!

Even if the floortool had a double life as a dog toy or something..

Take Care.

Ian :]

Nice Roll Easy

Arh,

Is that the Roll Easy from Kerry in PA? That is a real nice vac. I saw it when I visited him at his shop last week. I am preparing a "wish list" for him as he gets lots of stuff in. His workshop is literally up the road from my house. He has lots of cool Kirby vacs and he showed me a couple restoration projects he is working on.

My new Roll-Easy

Hi Ian, Electrogirl, I love this Roll-Easy, it is the one from Kerry. I think it is a beautiful machine, it has a couple of very small dents on it, but for a 50 year old machine, it hasn't been abused. I need to take a Magic Eraser to the trim, and put in a request for a dusting brush, crevice tool, and floor tool. The hose is great, but I am going to keep an eye out for some vinyl spray dye, maybe a car color from the '50s or '60s, I put a note and link on the off-topic thread dealing with that. Nice hearing from you!

Captain Nelson's Roll-Easy

I'm half watching the colorized first season of "I Dream Of Jeannie", and lo and behold, it has Sandra Gould (second Gladys Kravitz) as a cleaning lady, whom Tony told not to use the vacuum cleaner because it was broken. She "fixed" it by yanking the handkerchief out of the nozzle. It was a poorly colorized '57 Roll-Easy. The body of the machine had not been colored at all, just the wheels! I saw another post about this first vacuum, but don't remember where. And of course it was the same type Alice Mitchell had that Dennis vacuumed the yard with.

Here's the new baby

My new Reach-Easy will donate the flat floor tool to the concave Roll-Easy, the white tools will go to the beige and brown Cord-Reel, and this sad grey dust brush will stay with its original vacuum. The pink tool from Trg's Roll-Easy will go to the Reach-Easy at least because that style is indiginous to the Reach-Easy. I will go back to the Ugly Vacuum Thread when I can get back in. I will be looking for an aluminum nozzel end and some grey tools for the new vacuum as time goes on. And an aluminum curved wand for the new toy too. And some turquoise Roll-Easy crevice, dust, upholstery tools too. I don't want much!

Alan, I will keep my eyes open for Roll-Easy tools in turquoise. That one thrift always has a bin of vacuum tools. That is where I got those Hoover tools I posted about a little while back. You just have to tell me what to look for so I know they are the proper tools.

OK Electrogirl, the best thing I can tell you is to find Charles~Richard's profile, go to his favorite link, and look under the Roll-Easy thread. I wanted to just post it here, but I think that would have been a violation of his requests. Once you click on his site, Roll-Easy is a quick find, has excellent pictures, and a lot of other neat things too. I was going to post Aeoliandave's old Roll-Easy instruction pictures, but I was denied access. That is in the forum archives. Good luck and enjoy!
