Hello. I just purchased a nice GE Swivel Top cleaner from ebay. It's a small one, unlike the C7s but not a Lowboy model. It's beige on top and dark brown on the bottom and has an older style swivel top. The model # is V12C8. Does anyone have an idea when it was made? It has the deluxe bumper with the General Electric name spelled out on it, but the exhaust blows from an opening on the bottom. It appears to have 2 metal brackets on the back, presumably for attachment or cord storage.

Thanks,

Michael

GE Swivel Top Canister. When Was It Made?

Hi Canisterman. Thank you for your reply. I didn't know they made Lowboy models that early. I thought they were made later. Would this one be a single-fan model?

THe first swivel top GE canister was the model 815

I have a model C4 GE Roll Around cleaner that of course has a swivel top. It is beige & sort of a paprika red. Has the double action rug unit.

From Doug Smith’s website, it looks like the GE Swivel Top 815 debuted in 1952. Was the Air Way tower canister with the swivelling topside hose connection created earlier than 1952? Who was “first on the block” with a top side swivel hose?
