Did GE ever make a power head canister? Any pix? Also the 1960's model U1 Upright was a very slim upright. How did the hose connect for tool use?

GE questions

Thank you so much for the pix of the GE's. One more thing- Did GE keep making vacs after they stopped in the USA, or did someone else make them and just put the label on them?

I remember a few years back Wal Mart sold GE vacs, which I think were Eureka's with a GE logo on them. They had other items that were GE too, mixers atc.

It's a Canister!

For above-the-floor cleaning!

It's an upright!

For rugs and carpets!

It's on three dinky wheels!

So it falls over no matter which way you tug the hose!

Hi All! It may have it's faults, but it's still my all time favorite dream vac that has yet to be found. One day, One day. Later, Trg

chan55, I believe GE sold their vacuum division to Premier in 1972, which I would think was when they ceased production. But the GE canister above from 1983 seems to indicate they must have started making them again... I'm not sure. Someone with more knowledge will hopefully be able to us.

The GE vacuums at Walmart were indeed Eureka. Walmart has an exclusive right on GE housewares and small appliances. They are made by other companies and labeled with the GE logo which is licensed to Walmart, and on the bottom have "Walmart Stores, Inc. Bentonville Arkansas".

GE sold their own housewares line to Black & Decker in 1984, so I'm pretty sure anything made after then is just a relabel.

GE in Canada Continued to make vacuums till the 80's when B & D bought out the housewares div and started putting their name on them. In another thread here there is a B & D vacuum for sale that is the same design as the 1983 GE I have posted above (It would have been made about 1985)

Incidentally Premier and Hotpoint were just subsidiaries of GE
