Hey guys im doing a few little projects here. One of them is switching a G6 into an Avalir. I will be painting some parts like bumper trim, power button, etc. Im getting a full bag assembly for christmas i hope. Ill let you guys know how it goes and if you have any avalir parts let me know. I need an avalir hose and kaddy.

I guess my first question is, Why?

Other than that there will be some cosmetic issues as the Avilar has a different headlight, and motor pan.  If you are only focusing on color you may get close approximations.

I just question if you may someday want a G6 that is now cross dressing in Avilar clothing and won't be accepted by the other Kirbys.

My Ava-6 Will have a sentria headlght system with the black trim. ANd WHy? Because i want something that looks like the avalir and the g6 comes closest. I will be buying a NIB Avalir at some point but this is the closest i can get for a while. Im also asking for the complete handle for chrsitmas as well

James here explained everything happening to the Gsix. He's getting Avalir parts for it.
Anything that resembles Gsix will be replaced with Avalir parts, including headlight assembly.

Earlier this year, I bought a NIB Avalir from my local Kirby dealer, and I like how it looks and how it performs. But, in my Kirby collection, I also have a G6 in excellent condition, and I like it. I use it quite a bit, and I like its coloration just the way it is. I think it's one of the sharpest looking Kirbys in the G lineup. I did, however, do a modification. I asked Kent Oyler to build me a new bag assembly for my G6 using the newly-styled black emtor part for an Avalir with a new G6 bag and a new fill tube with the F-style bag fitting. If this gave my G6 somewhat of an upgrade in the airflow department, then that's a plus. A simple tweek adds personal value if anything else. Good luck with your project. Post a pic when done. Check out GreatVacs.com. You might be able to pick up a pretty good Avalir at a decent price.

Why bother? / Why not?

My initial reaction to this thread was 'why bother'? But then I started thinking about what I've done to my G5, fitting it with an Ultimate G bag assembly, including the gray emptor and then later matching that up with a gray G3 cord. To be clear, I wasn't really trying to come up with a custom color scheme; it just needed those parts and I just happened to get light gray ones on the cheap. And there are plenty of people who'll take, say an old Pontiac LeMans and give it a makeover to look like a GTO, so even though it's not something I would bother doing, why not make an Avalir clone if that's what floats your boat?
