G6 rebuild nozzle lock screw issue

When I decided to rebuild a used G6 I took off the nozzle lever and screw. Now moving forward with the assembly and it looks like I stripped out the thread in the fan case. Is there a way to repair this or do I need to buy a new fan case housing. By the way, I guess these things are not meant to be taken off. Thank you in advance for your help.

I doubt that "I'm doomed" Mr. Kirbykid, I will put my 30 years of engineering skills and 20 years of "weekend warrior" shad tree mechanics to good use here. Some ideas come to mind here...Heli-Coil and JB weld.

Hmmmmmmm. I didn't think of welding it back. You could always have it rethreaded.

You misunderstood, I'm using JB weld to use a locking agent just to hold the thread tight so repeated movements with the nozzle lever won't loosen the nozzle screw. Won't using too much JB weld just enough to lock the thread.

KirbyKid JB Weld is a type of glue, only stronger.

eurekastar, good idea but I don't like the idea of removing cast alumium materal and hitting with hammer&punch running a risk of cracking the cast alumnium fan housing.

I've never tried the procedure myself.  But I'm sure that great care must be given, because I have broken aluminum castings a couple of times without exerting much force.  I imagine that drilling down into the screw would be kind of tough too, even when setting it into a vice.  I guess you'd have to have a drill press to get it just right.
