Sadly the tools shown with that G4 are Bojack-not the original Kirby parts-they should be like a bluish color to match the machine. There should be a Kirby "Zipbrush" instead of the pet hair tool shown.I would look for other machines that would have all of the orig tools and parts.

Rex ...

... I think you have to look at the total value here.

Getting a "like new" completely cleaned and refurbished late model Kirby for under $300 *alone* is an amazing deal.

The aftermarket accessories are a bonus.

Even chucking the accessories and buying a brand-new accessory package directly from Kirby puts you way ahead of the game.

I was lucky and got my G4 from a Kirby dealer that went out of business-was factory rebuilt by Kirby-same with a G5,and a G3.I don't consider aftermarket tools a bonus-esp the hair tool,The Kirby tools would be of best quality and for a collector-he would want the orig-for a user that is not into vacuums-the bojack tools would be OK.Most of the Kirbys I have obtained came with the Kirby orig tools.Perhaps that one didn't have any tools with it.And who cleaned, refurbished the machine?Again Kirby would be the best here. With most online dealers-if you have a problem with the machine you have to send it back to them.If the tools weren't orig-did the seller use real Kirby parts in the machine when he rebuilt it?

Great Vacs Machines

are very nice. I have bought several machines from them and they always try their hardest to sell their machines with only Genuine tools Kirby etc, If you are unhappy with the purchase(such as the tools) let them know that you are a collector and want the machine to be as complete and Genuine as possible. They will bend over backwards to make you happy. Dan

Great-vacs

I must agree with Great-Vacs being a good company. All you need to do is call and tell them what you want. They will try their best to accommodate . Most importantly , they are honest about what you are getting!! They will tell you if they use OEM or generic . As long as a retailer tells you what you are getting, then the consumer can decide what to buy. Communication is the key to a positive purchase.

Great-Vacs NOT a good company!

My ex Craig bought a refurbished Dyson DC07 Animal from Great Vacs back in 2009. It was pictured & advertised on Ebay as having genuine Dyson tools & being fully refurbished & with a warranty. When it arrived, it had a cracked powerhead hose & aftermarket tools & aftermarket turbo brush. When he confronted Great Vacs about it by email, they refused to take responsibility & fix the vacuum. For that reason, I would be hesitant about dealing with them & look for another Ebay-er to buy from.

Tyled,
One thing that some first-time G Series users may not know about is that you must ALWAYS switch the Tech Drive pedal, on the rear of the cleaner and below the power switch, into "N" for Neutral before you turn-off the cleaner. If you leave the cleaner in "D" for Drive when the cleaner is off it will strip the Tech Drive and wreck the system.
Also, I strongly recommend you use the Envirotect HEPA bags for Kirby G Series vacuums. They filter very well and are great for people with alergies.
Best of luck and enjoy your purchase.

I've Had It Almost A Month

And, I must say a few things about Great-Vacs -

I'm not pleased with what I got from them. I was sent a manual for the Ultimate G Series instead of a G4. In addition, it is my fundamentally basic point of view that part of refurbishing the vacuum cleaner means you replace the brush roll. They did not replace the brush roll, and as a result I spent another $25 on a brush roll for my machine. And, they did not send genuine Kirby bags, instead they sent generic "Envirocare" branded bags.

As for the machine itself, I'm extremely pleased with it. It cleans extremely well, filters good - even with the generic bags (albeit they are a pain in the rear to install.) and is easy to push with or without the TechDrive Power Assist engaged. My only question about Tech Drive is in the manual it says you should not use it on bare floors or it will "mar or otherwise damage" (quote from manual). Why? I don't notice any protruding parts.

Very Nice.

I picked up a bunch of kirby tools/front nozzle/shampoo curbside a couple months back from a G4, unfortunately I think scrappers beat me to the G4...: (

My grandma's G4 can be pretty jerky with the Tech Drive on, I've always thought that it said not to use it on hard floors because it might scuff the floor or something.

Make sure Tech Drive is off on all hard surface floors....

It will mark your floors and wear the tread off of the back wheels. Also do no try and push the G4 with tech drive on and the motor off. If could ruin the transmission.

The G4 was my first Kirby since the Classic. The tech drive has improved since the G4, but it is still a nice feature on plush carpets. I always liked the color.

Interesting comments on great vacs. They use the same picture over and over when selling these items, so you do not get the machine pictured. If you want a refurbished machine, try goodvac.com. Very nice people to deal with and quick shipping.
